Britons Love Sharm El Sheikh

Dave Bond

Britain’s top travel web site airflights.co.uk has reported a huge jump in the popularity of Egypt’s Red Sea Resorts for winter holidaying Britons.

The holiday comparison website said the number of bookings for the North African destination has increased two-fold over the same period last year.

Officials at the site said that they looked at the period spanning from September 1 to the present.  Flights to Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) have been particularly popular, with Hurghada (HRG) also attracting a lot of UK attention.

Accommodation bookings to Taba and Marsa Alam proved to be strong performers although the UK’s favourite destination on the Red Sea at the moment is certainly Sharm.

Officials at Airflights credit the increase in Sharm flight and accommodation bookings largely on budget flight availability combined with a weaker sterling causing vacationers to choose all-inclusive hotels on the Red Sea rather than the usually popular destinations of Lanzarote, Tenerife, Cyprus and Spain.

The fixed cost of the all-inclusive hotels has proven to incite British families to go with that option as Sharm definitively delivers good value.

The travel site said that they expect to witness strong bookings right through the months of November and December with a very strong Christmas period as well.

With an average of eight hours of sunshine per day and temperatures hovering around 25 degrees Celsius, Sharm represents a great place to relax and soak up the sun.

Airflights.co.uk offers cheap airfare to holiday spots in Europe and beyond including Sharm, Marrakech, Madeira, Monastir, Corfu, Kos, Malaga, Alicante Zante, Heraklion Malta, Rhodes, Kefalonia, Dalaman, Izmir, Bodrum, Paphos, Larnaca and Chania.
