$12,000 stolen from Vietnam Airline passenger
Abi BrayThree airline hostesses have been suspended from their positions for allegedly taking money from the handbag of a passenger. The money was later found under a seat.
According to the passenger in question, his handbag containing $12,088.92 had stored into an overhead luggage compartment during the Vietnam Airline flight VN279 linking Hanoi to Dong Hoi in the province of Quang Binh. He said that once the plane had landed at Dong Hoi Airport, the money was gone.
The passenger, whose name wasn’t revealed, immediately complained an other flight attendants searched for missing the money as the aircraft resumed its journey on to Ho Chi Minh City.
But when the aircraft later landed at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat Airport, the cash was found under seat 4C, a seat other than the passenger’s, a Vietnam Airline spokesman said.
The passenger recuperated his money in Dong Hoi while the authorities started investigating the theft.
Representatives at Vietnam Airlines were informed by the passenger that flight attendants had walked along the cabin the whole time during the flight to Dong Hoi.
Meanwhile, three Vietnamese air hostesses have been repatriated after being apprehended at an airport in South Korea for allegedly attempting to smuggle 20 taels of gold to Vietnam.
Airline management is awaiting South Korean customs to make an official before choosing what action to carry out against the three flight attendants.
