The Hilton Lake Taupo is now officially opened for business.

Operated by Hilton Worldwide, the hotel is one of the first luxury, full-service international accommodation provider of its kind in Taupo and only New Zealand’s second Hilton.

The luxury hotel is located the beautiful North Island and provides 113 upscale guest rooms, apartments and suites.

The Heritage Wing makes up part of the hotel. This structure was formerly known as the ancestral Terraces Hotel which was erected in 1889 and is now entirely renovated with an additional 100-room sister wing called the Mountain Wing, positioned immediately next to the Heritage Wing.

The pair offer stunning panoramic sceneries over Lake Taupo and to the greatest ski resort in New Zealand, Mt Ruapehu.

According to Hilton Worldwide Asia Pacific President Martin Rinck, the Hilton Lake Taupo reveals a spectacular location, adding that he was thrilled Hilton will be operating a hotel in one of the top leisure destinations in the country.

He said the company aimed at preserving the style and character of the original Victorian era building and wanted to echo the same feeling in the additional Mountain Wing.

The Hilton Lake Taupo is a representation of the very high level of standards expected by the firm’s clientele around the globe.

Bistro Lago, the hotel’s main dinning spot, has already received the accolades for being seen as one the best restaurants in the region.

Created by Master Chef Simon Gault in cooperation with Head Chef Shane Yardley, the breakfast, lunch, dinner and 24 hour room-service menus all feature fresh and local ingredients.

Taupo Mayor Rick Cooper said the region is guaranteed to benefit from the presence of top international hotel brand like Hilton.

He said that the hotel had hired close to 100 local residents and the company promises to assist the region in several different ways.

Only a 3-hour drive from the largest city in New Zealand, Auckland, and 4.5 hours from the capital city of Wellington, Lake Taupo is similar in surface area to Singapore.

The region is already well used as a conference destination and it benefits from a wide variety of outdoor leisure activities such as bathing in thermal pools, trekking, horse riding, trout fishing, hunting, golf, boating, snowboarding and skiing.
