2010 Tourism Numbers In Ireland Expected To Surge

Imagine Ireland, a UK based self-catering travel business has expressed confidence and has predicted that the Irish tourism market will get reacquainted with growth in 2010.

Founded by Annette Collins and Astrid Nitzsche in 2003, Imagine Ireland is one of the country’s greatest self-catering travel firms and provides in excess of 1000 individually appraised accommodation properties across Ireland.

Despite a 25% drop in holiday bookings experienced by the company during the year 2009, Imagine Ireland is waiting for rental volumes to return to their healthy 2008 levels with 11,000 booked holidays by what it predicts will by year’s end of 2010.

According to Astrid Nitzsche, the outlook of the holiday specialist is at odds with the most optimistic experts in the industry, but the firm’s predictions are based on specific factors.

Addressing a crowd who gathered for the launch of the new 2010 holiday programme of Imagine Ireland, Nitzsche claimed that the general election in the UK, an improvement in terms of exchange rates favouring British visitors and the bottoming out of the recession in the UK, all had to be factored in.

Annette Collins, Co-Director of the company said that their firm is now well-established, mostly because of the relationship between the owners and their customers.

She said the management doesn’t take anything for granted as the travel market has grown globally stemming from the use of the internet while the self-catering sector has experienced a rise in competition coming from non-traditional businesses such as serviced apartments ad hotels.

However, Imagine Ireland has warned the Irish tourism sector against becoming complacent as other destinations around the world will be proactive in focusing on any resurgence in travel demand.
