Heathrow to See Full Body Scanners Introduced

It now appears that full body scanners will be introduced at Heathrow Airport by the end of this current month. The government will also introduce a more frequently searched behavioral analysis and more sniffer dogs to boost up security.

The airport is also considering the introduction of passenger profiling, Home Secretary Alan Johnson has just recently confirmed. The introduction of these extra security measures are a direct results of the failed Christmas Day bombing.

The extra security measures will inevitably lead to yet more delays at the UK’s busiest and most congested airport. Experts point out that this is the kind of thing that terrorism leads to. It’s not something that just effects one country but all countries. This is why so many people want to put an end to terrorism.

It is still not clear just yet weather the enhanced security will be introduced at other UK airports. In an address to the House of Commons, Johnson said that no one measure will be enough to defeat inventive and determined terrorists. There is no single technology which can be 100% effective at stopping them.

Johnson continued by saying that they are examining carefully whether additional targeted passenger profiling might help to enhance airport security. He said that they will be considering all the issues involved, mindful of civil liberties concerns, aware that identity-based profiling has its limitations, but conscious of their overriding obligations to protect peoples’ lives and liberty.

A spokesperson for British Airways said that they have not issued any new instructions so far. It is something that they will need to look into soon.
