Fairmont launches 7 new hotels in 2010
Sharon MillerLuxury hotel chain Fairmont has revealed plans of open a series of hotels throughout 2010.
The company is expecting to enter seven growing markets around the globe with distinctive new hotels.
Despite its interest in expanding with newly developed properties, Fairmont plans to launch hotels at two of most celebrated addresses in the world with the Peace Hotel in Shanghai and The Savoy in London.
The Savoy, one of London’s traditional premier social destination, will reopen after receiving a facelift worth £100 million. which took two years to execute.
The two-year top to bottom refurbishment encompassed the whole building, including the famous American Bar, the courtyard, the public areas and guestrooms as well as as the all important 268 rooms and suites. The construction work also involved the addition of a luxurious new Royal Suite.
The Savoy is scheduled to reopen anywhere between the second and third quarter of 2010.
In Shanghai, the Fairmont Peace Hotel is the new name for the refurbished Peace Hotel, a real landmark for over 100 years in China’s commercial hub.
The 269-room glamorous property sits in a prime location in Shanghais’ city centre as faces the Pudong area over the Hangpu River.
The new hotel promises to resurrect the famed Jazz Bar, a real icon since the 1930s. On the ninth floor, nostalgic patrons may still find the hotel’s Peace Hall, where a sprung-wooden dance floor evokes memories of gala parties and cabaret nights.
The Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai will open in the second quarter of 2010.
The other new Fairmont hotels include: the already operational but in soft opening mode Fairmont Beijing, with it 222 rooms; the soon to be opened 377-room Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, Canada; the Fairmont Pittsburgh with 185 rooms and suites set for a first quarter 2010 launch; the Fairmont Zimbali Resort, located along South Africa’s sublime east coast set for a second quarter opening and the Makkah Clock Royal Tower in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for a third launch.
