Shortage of Rental Vehicle for Europe in 2010

According to a leading vehicle rental company, Europe will experience a car hire shortage in 2010.
 
Representatives at Economy Car Hire said that Europe will see a dramatic shortage of rental cars this year, forcing holidaymakers who won’t have pre-booked a vehicle to disburse higher than usual sums. And according to one leading care hire broker in the United Kingdom, some of these vacationers will be stranded without the benefit of personal transportation.

Prices are going to be higher this year, they said, adding that the year 2010 bring a clear message that the situation for people looking to book a vehicle will certainly be very tight.

Company execs are saying that they are already seeing the trend appear for the Easter holiday. Peak times are particularly bad. This is why they’re urging people who will go on holiday this year and plan to have a hired care to books as early as possible.

Economy Car Hire representatives claimed that the economic downturn has forced an availability crisis in 2009 has not eased. Shortages are predicted to happen in Spain, in Portugal (particularly Faro), Greece, Italy, Croatia and even Cyprus in 2010.

The car rental firm said that hire prices steadily increased through 2009, company with vehicles rented in the month of August costing more than twice the price for the orevious January.

As an example, the company pointed that a Ford Ka reserved for a week in Spain during the month of January 2009 but for August cost £117. The identical vehicle booked a month before departure cost £240.

Economy Car Hire suggested that the same trend will be experienced in the market this year.
