Manchester Airport wins more awards
Robert JonesManchester Airport has received two major accolades in a single week.
During a London ceremony of the Travel Weekly Globe Awards at the Mayfair, the facility was awarded with the title of best regional airport.
Although the airport received a football size trophy, the prize was later reported to have been stolen right off the representatives’ table, as the airport’s staff was celebrating.
Manchester Airport managing director Andrew Cornish told reporters that he had been surprised by the theft but that he was nevertheless very happy that Manchester Airport had been recognized for its good work in the industry.
Mr Cornish said that since the airport has received most of all the major travel industry awards this year, it highlights the investment and effort he and his staff had put into Manchester during the last few years.
Manchester airport was pleased to receive positive comments including recognition of improvements made to customer service and also appreciation of the facility’s commitment to the environment.
Earlier in the week, Manchester Airport also received the Business Travel Awards prize for the Best Airport in the United Kingdom.
Last December and in a lighter twist, the facility was awarded at the Loo of the Year Awards 2009 for having the best toilet facilities in Britain.
