Former Pontins Holiday Site to Become Eden of the East

Well it now seems that the residents in the Norfolk villages of Newport and Hemsby are choosing to back the construction of an Eden Project holiday center, which has become a shorthand name but will be given a proper name later. The plan right now is for this holiday getaway to be built on a former Pontins holiday park.

This seaside resort, known for its beachfront amusements, has started to fade away in recent years. However, it is now the hope of this new project, which is unofficially being called the “Eden of the East” could help to remake this area. Eden of the East is a proposed 800 capacity construction that would cost investors about £10 million, and it’s expected to create many jobs and millions for the local economy.

The area would feature two carbon neutral sub tropical domes. One of these would be designed for camping and the second would be used for recreational activities. There would even be a number of eco friendly lodges that would be built outside of the domes themselves. The remainder of the 22 acre site would offer outdoor activities such as canoeing and rock climbing.

A brand strategy expert that is currently trying to secure funding for the project, Simon Middleton, said that the proposal has the overwhelming support of the residents and could become a flagship for sustainable tourism for the area. He went on to say that the accommodations would be energy efficient and could be built with sustainable materials. The domes would be similar to those used by the Eden Project in Cornwall.

He also hopes that it would provide the entire site with electricity created with wind energy. After all, there have already been a number of wind farms that have been established in the surrounding area.
