Premier Inn Announces New Olympic Stadium Property
Dave BondThe well known budget UK hotel chain Premier Inn has just recently announced that it will open a new property in Stratford near the Olympic Stadium. This new hotel will also be close to the new Stratford International train station, which opened up last December.
The hotel itself will have 267 rooms and is due to be open in time for the Olympic summer games that will be held there in 2012. This is the 13th new property to open as part of the £160 million expansion planned for London in preparation for the games.
Some other locations that are due to open in time for the 2012 games include a new 251 room Premier Inn in Old Street, a 400 room property at Heathrow Terminal 5, and a 247 room hotel in Waterloo. Overall, Premier Inn will have 59 hotels and 8,374 rooms in London by 2012, which will allow the company to take advantage of the tourists that will be attracted to that area due to the Olympic games.
The director of the Westfield Startford City, John Burton, said that the hotel will be in a prestigious location adjacent to the International Station. He went on to say that they are creating a new metropolitan hub, which will transform east London to the wider community prompting increased investment and business activity in the area for years to come.
According to the budget chain, they will be the largest provider of budget hotels in London by 2012. Of course, this is great news for Premier Inn, but the other hotels in the area will also see benefits from the amount of tourism that will be brought in due to the Olympic games. They just may not see as big of a benefit as Premier Inn will see.
