Magnuson Hotels Sets up For UK Launch

A well known independent hotel group in the United States, Magnuson Hotels, is now gearing up for a UK launch come April 5th. The company, which was founded by Tom and Melissa Magnuson in 2003, now represents some 1100 properties in the United States. The company is able to open up about 50 new hotels every month.

This company will soon be offering independent British hotels. They hope to increase their online presence on more than 2,000 internet booking channels. This includes such sites like Expedia and Travelocity.

Tom Magnuson said that the Magnuson Hotels will fill a gap in the UK market. He went on to say that they see a need in the UK market, and they plan to fill it. Some 63 percent of hotels outside London are not represented on the GDS. Their goal is to help represent the unrepresented.

Mr Manguson went on to say that the hotels that they represent can maintain their own independence; however, they will have the online presence of belonging to a chain. Magnuson Hotels offers a lower cost alternative to the traditional franchise models that are currently out there.

Magnuson Hotels will be offering preferential rates for travel agents booking directly with them. They also plan to work closely with travel management companies. Also, according to Magnuson, the hotel group’s technology and its strength of online presence will allow TMC’s to quickly find a member property to suit their clients’ needs and budgets.

Mr Magnuson finished up by saying that hotel brands are becoming less and less important to consumers. It is now estimated that less than 25 percent of consumers have any brand loyalty in their choice of travel companies.
