Thrifty Car Hire Extends Their Supply Agreement with Ford

According to new reports, Thrifty, which is a well known car hire company, has just recently extended its vehicle supply agreement with the Ford Motor Company. These reports suggest that this agreement has been extended for an additional year. The agreement will allow the company to source a portion of its annual vehicle purchases through Ford until August 2013. This is an agreement that could be extended yet again with joint approval.

Scott L. Thompson, the President and Chief Executive Officer for Thrifty, said that they are very pleased with their first year results under their Ford supply agreement. On top of this, the company said that they are very excited about Ford’s future products as well. This contract extension is a continuation of the company’s long term commitment to maintaining a diversified fleet.

Thrifty previously announced that its 2010 vehicle purchases included 34 percent Ford, 30 percent Chrysler, 20 percent General Motors, 6 percent Nissan and 10 percent from other manufacturers. Thus in this light, with Ford representing the biggest percentage of any one automobile maker, it’s easy to see why the Ford agreement was extended.

Thrifty is known for delivering great value for travelers’ hard earned money. This is one reason why the company chooses Ford as their main automobile supplier. The company believes in the work that the Ford Motor Company puts into their cars.

Experts point out that the cars that a car hire company chooses to offer to the consumer directly reflects the car hire company. If a car breaks down after being rented, whether it was the fault of the automobile maker or not, it normally gets pushed back on the car hire company. Thus, it is very important for these car hire companies to only add reliable cars to their fleet.
