Logis de Lussais is a beautifully restored 18th Century traditional Charantaise Logis set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens with raquet sports, a common games room and heated swimming pool complex. Logis de Lussais was bult in the mid 18th century as a Manor house with private vineyard, and later became a working farm. It has since been sympathetically restored to provide holiday accomodation consisting of the Owners detached farmhouse built in the Maison de Maitre style and 4 separate traditional stone cottages available for rent as a whole, individually or in combination. The Logis is approached along a private chestnut tree lined avenue, offering ample shaded parking, through grand entrance gates into a fountained courtyard. The farmhouse and cottages overlook the courtyard and each have private gardens. The facilities The four cottages share a fenced 10 x 5m heated swimming pool.This pool has Roman steps leading down to a shalow area of 1m sloping to a deep end of 2m. The owners or their guests staying in the farmhouse have the use of a further 8 x 4m heated and fenced private pool. Both swimming pools overlook the south facing gardens where there is croquet, boule, badminton, short tennis, swings and sandpit. In the Old Grange, an old open barn there is a common games room including table tennis, pool table, air hockey and bar football. All games and sports equipment is provided. The pool complex has a poolhouse with shower, wash basin and wc and an honesty bar where guests can buy drinks and icecreams. The accomodation La Conciergerie was originally the gatekeepers house with a pigonnier above, now a delightful spacious 3 bedroom cottage. On the ground floor there is a well equipped beamed kitchen/diner with table and chairs, gas hob and electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher and a comfortably furnished sitting room with 3 sofas, a coffee table, music system,DVD player and satellite TV which gets English-language digital channels and featuring a beamed ceiling and open fireplace. There is also a twin bedded room off the sitting room and ground floor WC. French doors lead onto a terrace with garden furniture & BBQ. Upstairs there is a large family shower room and WC,a second bathroom with wash basin and a shower over the bath and two bedrooms with double beds. All the bedrooms feature French style bedsteads and wardrobes. The locaility The logis is situated in the Boutonne valley on the edge of a quaint village on the River Boutonne yet conveniently only 1km from the charming market town of Chef-Boutonne where there are 2 supermarkets and a small number of shops bars and restaurants. The surrounding countryside of woodlands and forests are ideal for walking and cycling with an abundance of wildlife. The fairytale Chateau Javarzay on the edge of the town has a park and lake just perfect for a picnic or fishing. The Chateau is floodlit at night making a spectacular sight, often the focal point for village events and entertainment. The source of the River Boutonne to which the town lends it's name lies deep beneath the church of Notre Dame in the ramparts of the castle in the old town. A regular open market each Saturday in the town square is an opportunity to buy the best of the local produce. The nearest restaurant at Des Canards with poolside eating terrace is a 10 min stroll from the bottom the garden and at La Herroniere on the edge of Chef-Boutonne there is a lakeside Terrace Bar & Grill.
