anremo - General Information San Remo is the capital town of the Italian Riviera of Flowers. Its climate has been widely appreciated since the 1800's, but its artistic heritage, permeated by that typically Ligurian shyness, which escapes from any focus of attention, is still largely unknown. As a matter of fact, its views are extremely suggestive and its architecture and landscape make of this strip of land expanding up to the French boundary a real pearl of Italy. Things to see & places to visit Please note that 3 mobile airconditioning units were installed in the apartment in the Spring of 2003, and can be used during the summer months. Restaurants nearby include Mare Blu, (just down the road from the Gucci, Prada and Guess stores, Ulisse where you can savour a 9 course Ligurian meal for around EURO 30, Il Bagatto in the centre of town, and Della Palme in the old harbour. Don't miss out on the fantastic selection of home-made ice creams at the Living Garden, situated at the sea-front. A must to see is the Russian Orthodox Church, Villa Nobel, Villa Ormond and the famous San Remo Casino. The castle stands majestically on the hill of Berigo, a few minutes from the centre of Sanremo, set amongst other beautiful villas, between palmtrees, orange trees, cacti, banana and other tropical and mediterranean plants. The castle with it’s magnificent architecture is reached by a road called Corso degli Inglesi (Road of the English). At the entry stands a large gate in Florentine style, which at the time had won a gold medal award in England. The door of the castle itself is of heavily and beautifully decorated bronze.
