Further details The forest The forest D'Eauwy (dayvee) is Europe's largest natural beech forest with a network of cycle paths and riding tracks throughout. It is home to many easily spotted species of woodland animals, flora and fauna. There is a recently discovered WW2, V1 rocket site complete with (difused) rocket on its launching pad. The Coast The coastline from Dieppe towards Le Havre is an unspoilt stretch of small villages and beaches, some sandy and some pebbled, forty minutes drive away. All the villages have excellent restaurants, oyster bars and usualy some stalls where fish from the day's catch are sold. The beaches and villages make an excellent day out of simple pleasures. Further South past the massive pont Normandie are the more sophisticated seaside towns of Honfleur(an hour's drive)and Deauville. History, Culture and gardens The city of Rouen with its medieval quarter of small antique and fashion boutiques, restaurants, beautiful churches and Cathedral is a twenty minute drive away. In addition there is a comprehensive culture program of Music, Opera and Dance and a multitude of Cinema's showing the latest films (in their original language) before they are distributed to the rest of Europe. Golf Information The 18 hole course at St Saens is based on a Scottish design and set out over a river valley and forest hillside. The club house is a classic Normandy Chateau with bar and reasonably priced restaurant, membership not required. There are golf carts and a driving range available.
