The lounge has a wood burning stove and a good selection of books, satellite Sky TV, internet broadband access and DVD player. We have furnished the house in a simple but attractive Andalucian style. The property is on one level with a gated, stepped entrance. It is suitable for disabled persons if they can manage the two small steps at the second entrance. It is safe for children or pets, because they will be unable to leave the confines of the house and patio and stray to the poolside unnoticed. The main bedroom has a double bed and there are fitted wardrobes in both bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped for long term living. There is a washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator/ freezer, electric fan assisted oven, gas hob and extractor, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, wine rack, etc., There are ceiling fans in every room and mosquito screens on the windows. We provide additional portable fans if wanted. During cooler, winter months, we supply duvets and room heaters. Casa Rosa has three bedrooms and is also laid out on one storey, although there is a step inside the house leading to the sleeping area, which would make the house difficult for a disabled person. There are two shower bathrooms in this property. There is a double bed in one room, two twins in each of the other rooms and all have fitted wardrobes with plenty of books again to make your stay enjoyable. The kitchen, though small, is perfectly formed and well equipped, having a large refrigerator/ freezer, free standing cooker, washing machine, ironing board, iron, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, etc., This house also has Sky TV, internet broadband access, mobile CD/MP3 player, Playstation 2 and a video player. There is a private patio, table, chairs and large sun awning. All bed linen and towels are provided, although we ask you to bring your own beach towels. We provide our guests with a small welcome pack on arrival, with any seasonal produce from the finca if available - avocados, plums, mandrarins, tomatoes, lemons, oranges, kumquats, satsumas, grapes, custard apples plus a free drink on the house at the bar with a tasty tapas Outdoor living is a way of life here in Spain and we hope that you will enjoy the beautiful views, the flowers, the scenery as much as we do. Sipping a Tinto de Verano ( wine of the Summer ) whilst reclining in the soothing jets of the 6 seater Jacuzzi, looking up at the mountains or the clear stars, unpolluted by town light, is an unforgettable experience, not to be missed. We live on site, next door, but unseen from your accommodation and this year, we have added a Jacuzzi, a private bar with snack menu and opened our mandarin grove, other further grounds with two fish ponds and a fountain, to our guests which we hope you will also enjoy. This area is open 4 nights per week, with very reasonable prices, some free tapas and occasional live guitar if wanted, or just chill out in the tub with the TV. If you tire of cooking one night, you may find this a quicker option than a takeaway ! The ponds are fascinating to watch, brimming with koi and gold fish, many frogs, water hyacinths and water lilies. Many an idle moment has been happily passed, sitting on the garden bench, watching the frogs and fish play. The gardens are filled with bougainvillea, honeysuckle, moonflowers, giant cacti, jasmine and the heady perfume of dame de la noche ( lady of the night ) entices you to walk around in the evening at the end of a hot day , spent sight seeing or sunbathing on the beaches. In the guest’s private area, the pool with its floodlight will enable you to stay up as long as you like or why not light candles around the pool at night as some of our previous guest have ? There is an out side shower for pool use. There are few neighbours to bother you. From the highest of the three terraces, you can see the bay of the Costas and Torremolinos and in the second week of August, you can even enjoy the night time fireworks of Malaga’s big annual feria or fiesta from the balcony. There are lovely, mature Mediterranean style gardens to the rear of the houses with a quaint shaded patio area. In front of the villas, is a third sun bathing terrace which is huge and can accommodate many guests for parties, weddings, etc., There is a built in BBQ area with outdoor seating for twelve or more, with a shaded pergola, perfect for long, lazy afternoon dining or midnight suppers. This terrace is normally laid out with comfortable wooden sun beds and tables for our holidaymaking guests to enjoy. There are more gardens to the side of the houses. There is plenty of space to dry clothes and each house has its own iron and ironing board plus use of our tumble drier, should the need occur in winter.

Places to visit These are my personal favourites, if I have visiting family members staying with me for a week or two. I have given the approximate travel times in our location section—these are all day or half day trips.
RONDA See the dramatic gorge where, by trickery, men plunged with their horses to their deaths, the
oldest bull ring in Spain and wonderful leather shops.
ALHAMBRA PALACE at Granada—make sure you book in advance or you won’t get in to see this magnificent and magical fortress
MALAGA People are surprised when I suggest the city but you will find it fascinating if you go off down the side streets and look at the beautiful architecture, the port, the castle and don’t forget the feria in the second week of August , the largest in our province. Try chilled Malaga sweet wine in one of the old bodegas with a plate of cold prawns or go to the lovely old indoor market and shopping is wonderful, ladies !
SIERRA NEVADAS Visit the little Moorish villages high up in the Alpujarras. Chris Stewart from ‘Driving Over Lemons’ fame, lives near Orgiva, which is a charming little mountain village, nestling in the valley, with its own well established hippy colony close by. It’s worth going if only for the free tapas in the bars, one of the few places left in Spain that actually does serve freely them unless you go to the far North. Good for ceramics and nick nacks.
GIBRALTAR I visit to do my big shopping ! It is a fascinating place, a little run down in parts but don’t be put off. You have to visit the monkeys and the caves. The botanical gardens are pleasant and a poignant moment for me was to see the little graveyard where a very young drummer boy was buried—the battle of Trafalgar was fought just off this coast.
MORROCCO Yes, you can go there and back to another continent in one day. You can see the coast of
Africa. Take the ferry from Gibraltar and go haggling in Tangiers.
CHORRO LAKES No need to visit the beaches when there are the beautiful lakes at Chorro. Stop of at the dam and marvel at the railway where Von Ryan’s Express was filmed
JEREZ Go sherry tasting and savour the architecture of this fine city
SEVILLE Another beautiful city, known for culture, flamenco, architecture and marmalade
CAVES AT NERJA - spectacular illuminated cave system
MIJAS Ride a donkey through the cobbled streets of the charming nearby village
PUERTO BANUS and MARBELLA mix with the rich and go star spotting—watch out for Antonio
Banderas or you may see him in his home town Malaga !
SELWO SAFARI PARK near Estepona
Botanical Parks at Malaga and Alhaurin de la Torre
HOT SPRINGS at Alhama de Granada, massage, thermal springs
FINE DINING AND FISH RESTAURANTS a plethora to choose from—we have a good guide book for you to choose from at our house and can recommend many for you. Start at the Albatross near the Golf course and dine on beautiful Scandinavian salmon with boiled potatoes or try a paella 2 minutes up the road in a local Venta.
ZOO at Fuengirola, a small but well kept zoo, the lemurs are hilarious in their open island enclosure where you can get meet them out of their enclosures.
SHOPPING Malaga, La Trocha in Coin, Miramar in Fuengirola and there are markets every day of the week.
PICASSO MUSEUM in Malaga, birthplace of the artist
TEN PIN BOWLING AND CINEMAS at Plaza Mayor, only 10 mins drive away with 70 bars and international restaurants to select from.
