ALOHA (welcome-hello) and MAHALO (thank you) for visiting our page about wonderful Kapoho, Hawaii Hale Hoku means Star House in Hawaiian. It is so named because of the wonderful star gazing which may be done in this light pollution free area. While only 30 miles from Hilo, Kapoho will feel like your own private paradise. Located at the eastern most point of the Big Island, it is nestled safely inside a gated community. Hale Hoku is backed by a green belt, has only lava and ocean in front and an empty lot on either side, so that your peace and quiet is assured. All upper level living. While only a one bedroom, the large kitchen/living room is open and spacious, with a 12 foot cathedral ceiling and a full wall of sliding doors and windows looking out to an unobstructed 180 degree ocean view. The full, covered deck across the front of the house is cooled by trade winds and makes a wonderful place for a morning cup of coffee. Sunrises here are colorful and welcoming. The large back deck allows for sun bathing, or you may use the garden area. Fully furnished, including all linens, kitchen utensils, 27" wide screen TV with Satellite including music service, DVD players and DVD movies, Stereo radio with CD and cassette player, beach towels, beach mats, cooler, snokeling gear. Only a short walk to thermally fed, warm Champagne Pond where you may swim with endangered Green Sea turtles. A bit further and you can swim among tropical fish and coral in the Pacific Ocean. A short five minute drive will take you to a Marine Preserve or to Ahalanui Hot Pool, a large ocean and thermally fed swimming pool which is around 98 degrees F. Days are normally in the low to mid 80s F and the lightest of clothing is needed. October through May evenings are in the high 60s while June through September they may be in the low 70s. However, year round the evenings will feel cooler than you think and a light wrap is recommended.
