Our 7 quaint self-catering cottages located on a working fruit farm in the heart of the Elgin Valley 1 hour from Cape Town and 30 mins from Hermanus, provide an excellent base for exploring the area or for simple relaxation. At Oak Lane Cottages, we provide guests with the opportunity to experience the simplicity of farm life. Our accommodation consists of 7 rustic cottages and we can accommodate a total of 35 people.The guest cottages were previously inhabited by farm staff and were renovated in 1999. We have endeavoured to retain the rustic charm of the cottages and hot water is still supplied using a donkey-boiler system. These donkey boilers are stoked twice daily. Some of our cottages have free-standing open fireplaces, others are equipped with wood-fired Dover stoves. These stoves generate wonderful warmth in winter. During the winter months, guests are also provided with hot water bottles and heaters to ensure protection against the cold winter nights. Other useful information: Overnight laundry service available, Tea/coffee trays in each cottage, all linen and towels provided, braai facilities at each cottage (grid provided and wood/charcoal sold from the farm), cottages are fully equipped with all the necessary kitchen equipment and utensils, wood-fired Dover stoves or open fireplaces in all cottages, hot water bottles and heaters provided during winter, cottages are serviced if guest are spending more than 2 nights, pets allowed by prior arrangement, paddocks/stables available if you are to be accompanied by your horse, driving service to and from weddings/functions in the area, baby-sitting service available, languages spoken: English, Afrikaans, French, basic Indonesian.
