Tranquility is in the picturesque fishing village of Pittenweem, near to St Andrews, Scotland. Pittenweem's history dates back to the 7th century. Its name has Pictish origins and means place by or of the cave. This cave was said to be the retreat St Fillan chose to live whilst he converted local Picts to Christianity. The cave is located in one of the wynds meandering upwards from the harbour. Tranquility is a spectacular ground floor holiday home. This 17th century Grade A listed property enjoys a superb position overlooking the picturesque Pittenweem harbour. The renovation of The Gyles won the Saltire Award from the National Trust of Scotland. Boasting magnificent sea and harbour views from almost all windows, this luxury apartment also has a wealth of charm and character with exposed timber ceiling beams throughout. The property, which sleeps 2, benefits from being all on one level, with the ability to park right outside the front door. The lounge, dining room and double bedroom all have wonderful sea views. The circular dining area has views across the harbour towards the Firth of Forth. The new bathroom has both bath / electric shower and features wonderful Spanish nautical tiling. The contemporary kitchen leads to a shared courtyard. The property has under-floor heating throughout and for extra warmth the lounge also benefits from a fire. There is a most useful large store off the common hallway for bikes, golf clubs etc. Tranquility is ideal for couples who wish to relax and explore St Andrews and the quaint fishing villages of the East Neuk. Pittenweem itself, is a real hot spot for arts, crafts and antiques. It is on the most beautiful part of the Fife Coastal Path and Millenium Cycle Way. There are award winning sandy beaches, world class golf courses, water sports, and many holiday activities in the area. There are several excellent restaurants and lots of quaint pubs to visit nearby. We also have a wonderful selection of other luxury properties available throughout the picturesque fishing villages of the East Neuk. Several of these are also in Pittenweem. For instance, Harbour Lights and Harbour View which are part of a Grade B Listed House situated right on the shorefront. 'Harbour View' is on the ground floor. It sleeps 2-4, has two bedrooms 1 double 1 twin, bath and shower, fully-fitted luxurious kitchen and central heating throughout. 'Harbour Lights' is on the first and second floors, sleeps up to 6, and has three bedrooms (one double and two twin bedrooms), It has two wonderful bathrooms. It also has a 'cosy' escape with a large window seat which has stunning sea views in every direction. Both properties have fully-fitted luxurious kitchens and central heating throughout. They share a courtyard and walled garden, with two separate decking areas complete with patio furniture, for enjoying those long and sunny evenings. It is possible for larger groups to book both Harbour Lights and Harbour View and thereby accommodate up to 10 persons whilst still retaining both comfort and some privacy. Indeed, we have taken bookings from even larger parties, who have then stayed in these, and our some of our other properties, in Pittenweem. Other properties are situated in Crail and Anstruther. For instance, our premier holiday home is St Andrews House, which directly overlooks Crail harbour and has spectacular sea views across the Firth of Forth. It sleeps 6, has three bedrooms with master ensuite, open plan fully fitted kitchen/dining, spacious lounge with open fire, central heating, and street car parking. One bedroom overlooks a large walled garden with attractive rockery features, beautiful borders and patio. The lounge, dining room and the other two bedrooms all have superb sea views.
