About Weather/Climate/Temperature

Warm and sunny climate (strong influence of the Golf Stream) at summer but also at winter time. It starts to be sunny and warm in June and the back season is very warm until mid October. The weather is dry, very low humidity therefore it is important to drink a lot especially for children. During the winter the rain falls even strong, the place is very nice.

About Nightlife

During the summer all villages around our places have at summer fetes and it is easy to find places all around where an exhibition finish with a dancing evening. In Chantonnay there is a Pub (Cork - Ireland), evening dances in several places (FONTENAY LE COMTE, LA CAILLERE, SERIGNE, etc..). Friday, Saturday: Disco and night clubs in 3 places distant of 8 to 12 Km are nice and save: LE CRISTAL (15 Km), LE VILLAGE (9 Km), LE MANOIR (12 Km).

About Beaches

Very nice beaches are at La FAUTE SUR MER is 1 hour drive (45 Km), LA TRANCHE SUR MER (also 45 Km); L'AIGUILLON SUR MER at 42 Km, LA ROCHELLE about 70 Km (70 minutes drive). LES SABLES D'OLONNES is at about 70 Km but is also 1 hour drive because of a f.o.c. motorway. Near from our place are 2 lake beaches: at ROCHEREAU (8 Km) and the lake of MEVENT as well as the alke in VOUVANT (8 Km).

About Golfing

At 8 Km from LA RIVIERE MORIN is the "Lac de Rochereau" a sailing school as well as in MERVENT (lake of "MERVENT" at 15 Km from our place. Otherwise LA ROCHELLE and LA TRANCHE SUR MER as well as LES SABLES D'OLONNES will satisfy your sailing requiements and are about 50 to 70 minutes drive away.

About Sailing

At 8 Km from LA RIVIERE MORIN is the "Lac de Rochereau" a sailing school as well as in MERVENT (lake of "MERVENT" at 15 Km from our place. Otherwise LA ROCHELLE and LA TRANCHE SUR MER as well as LES SABLES D'OLONNES will satisfy your sailing requiements and are about 50 to 70 minutes drive away.

About Fishing

You can fish directly in our small pond or next to our place are 2 bigger ponds were fishing with a day or week pass is allowed. The biggest place around is the lakes at "PESCALIS" in the other department: LES DEUX SEVRES. It is about 27 Km far away. But PESCALIS is the biggest European fishing ressort with different lakes for different fish types and the lakes are on a 170 hectares surface.

About Walking

We are located on a pedestrian road and are marked on the map as such (Chemin de Randonnés). We have often have here around people stopping for one night and walking to “SAINT JACQUES DE COMPOSTEL???. Some are stopping at our place because it is a gite for groups “GITE DE GROUPE???. After the pedestrians continue their walk to South of France. In LA CAILLERE we also have at "LES 5 CHENES" (The five oak trees) different pedestrian ways with different length: 8 Km, 14 Km and 24 Km.
