Property Details of Algarve Villa

Vila Margarida is a lovely villa built some 30 years ago and set in a beautiful and well maintained mature garden. The garden is approximately 1 acre and laid to a grassed area with paths, orchard area and large areas of specimen shrubs, trees and perennial plants. The villa itself is located towards the centre of the plot and is secluded, offering a high degree of privacy. It is accessed off a small road which is a dead end leading to similar villas. The driveway is 20m long and there is ample parking including a car-port. The villa is in an attractive residential area and only 8 minutes walk from the beach, restaurants and bars. There is also an extremely well stocked supermarket 7 minutes walk away. Its excellent position makes this villa an ideal choice, particularly for a mixed age range party, as it is easily possible for different members of the group to occupy themselves in different ways without inconveniencing other group members. Some may wish to be energetic and play tennis, others lounge by the pool and others walk to the beach or a local bar or restaurant. Vila Margarida is attractively furnished, well equipped, and all the shutters are mosquito screened. The villa has wafer and free standing electric heaters and a log burning fire in the lounge and is therefore suitable for winter rentals. The front door opens into a ground floor hallway, which has doors off to all four bedrooms and the family bathroom. To the right, on the pool side of the villa are three bedrooms. Master bedroom-with bathroom en-suite. This generously proportioned bedroom has French doors to the pool terrace, double bed, dressing table and drawers, fitted wardrobes, bedside tables and lamps and windows to the eastern aspect giving views to the orchard area. In the access lobby to this room there are further built in wardrobes and one of these holds a built in key operated valuables safe. The bathroom is fully equipped with bath, over bath shower, bidet, basin and toilet. Bedroom 2. Has two single beds, built in wardrobes, bedside tables and lamps and French doors to the pool terrace. Bedroom 3. Has two single beds, built in wardrobes, bedside tables and lamps and French doors to the pool terrace. There is also a window looking out to the Western side of the villa. To the left side of the hallway is the fourth bedroom. Bedroom 4 with shower room en-suite. This bedroom has a double bed, chest of drawers, bedside table and lamp. There is a window looking out to the orchard area. The shower room is spacious with a large curtained shower, bidet, basin and toilet. Also off this hallway is a family bathroom comprising bath, over bath shower, bidet, basin and toilet. Stairs from the hall rise to a first floor landing which has doors to all the upstairs rooms as follows. Lounge. A large, airy, bright room with ample seating on sofas and armchairs and a log burning fire. There are coffee and occasional tables, bookshelves, lamps and lamp tables. There is a modern TV, video,DVD and digital satellite system plus CD player and radio. There are windows facing west and overlooking the gardens. From the lounge there are two sets of double French doors giving views out to sea and leading out to a large terrace. The terrace extends across the length of the villa and can be accessed from both the lounge and dining room. There are two large tables and ample seating and it is an ideal spot for outside dining. One table is outside the dining room and this area is covered, the other is located in the open part of the terrace, outside the lounge. Each can easily seat eight. The terrace overlooks the pool below, garden and tennis court. It also has lovely views over to the cliffs and to the sea. There are gated stairs from one end of the terrace down to the driveway and via a gate to the pool terrace. Dining room. With circular dining table and seats for eight, sideboard and French doors to the terrace. Also windows to the East overlooking the orchard. There are double glass doors to the lounge and a door each to the kitchen and landing. Kitchen. In traditional Portuguese style blue and white tiling. There are numerous cupboards, a gas oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with small freezer, kettle, toaster, coffee maker etc. The kitchen is well equipped for eight people including pots, pans, utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware etc. There is an iron and ironing board and a large maid?s cupboard, which holds an automatic washing machine. The maid?s cupboard is kept locked for the maid?s use, but for a small extra charge she will happily do a load of washing for you. From the kitchen there is a door to a small terrace area and stairs down to a drying area with washing lines. Cloakroom. With basin, bidet and toilet. Outside The tiled pool is located on the South side of the villa, closest to the sea. It is overlooked by the terrace upstairs and can be accessed either from there by the staircase, or from the French doors leading from any of the first three bedrooms. The pool itself is 10x5m with a Roman end of gentle steps leading in. There is a cover on a roller and this can be used to help maintain a higher water temperature by covering at night if wished. Pool heating is installed and can be requested at an additional cost ( please see services ) The pool is serviced regularly. There is plenty of space around the pool and sun-loungers and mattresses are supplied. There is also plenty of shade available on the pool terrace if wished as the area immediately outside the two twin rooms is covered. There is also a free standing parasol. As with most of the grounds the pool area is very private and cannot be over-looked from any other property or the road. Immediately adjacent to the villa and next to the pool is a wonderful covered bar, barbeque and dining area. This includes a raised tiled bar with serving shelf and a large tiled table with built in bench seating and freestanding chairs. There is a large barbeque with a chimney and adjacent a kitchen area with fridge, sink with hot and cold water, preparation and serving space and a two ring gas hob. There are also cupboards containing a large supply of colourful plastic crockery, cutlery and glasses/cups (and of course a bottle opener!) This area is beautifully cool in the heat of the day and has lighting for evening use. Down some steps from the pool terrace and across a lawned area there is a hard surface tennis court. The court is North -South directed to avoid the dazzling early morning and evening sun. There is regular maid service and the linen is changed weekly. The gardener comes most days and the pool is serviced weekly. There is a telephone for incoming calls. All bed linen and towels for use indoors are provided, but please bring your own towels for beach and poolside. Cot and high chair hire can be organized for you. If you wish to accommodate an additional child in a folding bed rather than a cot, again hire of this can be arranged. The prices for hire of these items are: cot ?22 per week, high chair ?7 per week, folding bed ?60 per week Pool heating can be requested for an additional charge if wanted. The pool temperature un-heated depends on the weather and air temperature and is therefore variable, but as a rough guide is approximately 21C at Easter and 23C in August. Pool heating will aim for a temperature of approx 28-29C and will be charged at an additional ?100 per week. If the villa is not let the week before your stay and you want the water to be warmed for your arrival it will need to be pre-heated for a few days at an additional cost of ?60 (this would also apply if the villa were let, but the previous occupants had not wanted the pool heated.) A decision on pre-heating can be made at the time of paying the balance on your holiday, once we know whether the villa is booked the week before or not.

Local Area Details

Praia da Luz is a great family resort towards the western end of the Portuguese Algarve coast. It has a lovely sandy beach approximately half a mile long and backed by a palm tree lined promenade. At the eastern end of the beach there are spectacular cliffs and at low tide there are rock pools that adults and children alike will love to explore. At the western end of the beach the sand gives way to large flattened rocks where those who like to lie by the sea, but avoid the sand can relax. Praia da Luz has plenty of restaurants which range from cafes and beach bars through bar/restaurants and bistros to plush restaurants. There are several supermarkets and other shops and boutiques, a chemist, bank, internet caf鬠post office and a medical centre where good English is spoken. There is one small nightclub on the sea-front.
Praia da Luz is a 5-10 minute drive into the lovely western Algarve town of Lagos with its many shops, restaurants, marina and more sophisticated nightlife. There are many golf clubs along this part of the Algarve and the closest is a 5 minute drive between Luz and Lagos. There are many other activities in the immediate area e.g. horse riding, tennis, deep sea fishing or grotto viewing boat excursions. Slightly further afield, heading east, but still within a 40 minute drive there are 2 water slide parks, zoo-marine, a zoo, a large modern shopping mall. If you instead head west then the south westerly tip of Europe, Cape St Vincent and the nearby nautical town of Sagres are a 30 minute drive. Also heading west are the spectacular Atlantic beaches of the West coast with their miles of wide sandy beaches and huge rolling breakers which make them ideal for surfing and body boarding and several of these beaches have surf schools.
