Property Details of Brittany Farmhouse

The house was built in 1694 and is full of original character such has huge beams, stone walls and fireplaces. It has been fully restored and provides wonderful accomodation for 2-4 people with masses of space and a 1 acre garden. It has a double bedroom with an en suite shower room. Downstairs is a twin bedded room opposite a shower room. The kitchen/diner is large with a table seating upto 6 together with 2 armchairs to snuggle up in front of the woodburner or sit and read. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. It has views out over the garden and french doors open out onto the front of the house. The living room is extremely big and has enough seating for 12 persons. It has a woodburner, large tv and dvd, cd/radio and lots of books and games.There are again french doors leading out to the front of the house. Off the lounge is the garden room; this used to be the pigsty - but they have long gone! It is a comfortable area with 2 armchairs and a coffee table to sit and enjoy the views over the garden and neighbouring farmland where cows and horses can be seen grazing. Patio doors open onto the gardens from here. The twin bedroom is off this and has a chest of drawers, wardrobe and bedside table. Opposite is the shower room, toilet and washbasin. If required we can provide a travel cot and high chair. It is available from September to May. There is a private heated swimming pool which is available in the months of September and May for a supplement of £100 per week.

Local Area Details

The house is in a good location and easy to get to from all major ferry ports. Cherbourg 1 1/2 hours, Caen 1 1/2 hours, Le Havre 2 hours, St Malo 30 minutes, Calais 5 hours max. It is easily accessed from the new A84 motorway coming off at the St James junction No 32 near Mont St Michel.

There is a fantastic water park only 10 minutes away at St Martin des Landelles. It has pools, slides, go karts and many other attractions. The beaches are only 20 minutes drive away, you can head towards Brittany or Normandy ones. Avranches is 20 minutes away which is full of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, hypermarkets, museums, gardens, castle, water park. St Malo is only 30 -40 minutes drive. Fougeres mediaeval town is 10 minutes drive. St James American war cemetary can be seen in the distance from the house, about 10 minutes drive. DD Landing beaches, Bayeux and the war museams are about 1 hours drive away.

Mont St Michel and the bay are only 20 minutes away. There is a Zoo at Champrepus 40 minutes, Reptilarium at Avranches 20 minutes. Horse riding centres about 20 minutes away in Genets and St Jean Le Thomas. Plus much,much more.

All in all it is a very central location for any type of holiday, you will not be bored. If you do not want to go out touring then the house is still an ideal retreat set in unspoilt countryside but not isolated from the local village only about 2 miles away.

This is a fantastic 300 year old farmhouse that has been fully restored. It has 1 double bedroom and a twin room. There is a large kitchen diner and huge lounge with a wood burning stove. There is a downstairs shower room for the twin room and an ensuite shower room for the double bedroom. The rental price includes bed linen for upto 4 persons. Linen and towels are included in the rental price. Electricity is charged at 10 cents per therm. Wood is available for the woodburners at an additional charge of £20 per week if ordered in advance. There are electic radiators in all rooms. We can rent the house for weekend breaks or shorter at £35 per night for upto 4 persons plus heating charges.
