About Nightlife
This part of Spain is well known for the quality of its cooking and you can take your pick from over 100 restaurants. Try the enticing traditional dishes such as 'arros a banda' (a savoury rice dish cooked in fish stock) and the fisherman's pot 'suquet de peix'. You may just fancy watching the world go by whilst feasting on traditional Spanish Tapas. In this part of Spain you get the real thing, not a tourist imitation.
The local speciality is seafood which is caught daily and brought into the local fish market at the harbour side. This together with the cooked hams, fresh fruit, vegetables, and olive oil make the local cuisine healthy and exquisite.
About Beaches
Denia is the capital of the Marina Alta area and dates from Roman times. Lying at the foot of the majestic Montgó Mountain, it is dominated by its ancient honey coloured Castle (circa 11th century). Denia maintains its old traditions with colourful daily fish and vegetable markets. Walk around the old quarter and discover an authentic Moorish-Spanish atmosphere in its narrow cobbled streets. The main tree-lined street (Calle Marques de Campo) abounds with interest and enjoyment, with typical restaurants, shops and bars, relax quietly and enjoy the bubbling atmosphere of continental living.
