Tyas Cottage, a recently restored cottage and barn, is located within a small hamlet on the site of the first water powered mill in the Colne Valley. It is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale (a Site of Scientific Interest). It is at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac that is off an ancient, cobbled pack horse road (not open to vehicles). Apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural. Merrydale is a beauty spot and its abundant bird life includes dippers, kingfishers, herons and sparrow hawks. Foxes are often seen and a deer was recently sighted. There is access to a river and mill pond, so toddlers beware!
