About Children Activities

Your Family Holiday
The family is central to our life here at Caserio del Mirador. We recognise that the times that we spend with each other are often those precious moments we manage to squeeze in between all manner of other daily pressures. Sadly, unless we make the effort to take time away, the opportunity to enjoy our children is lost until we manage to fit them in next time. It is all too easy to look ahead without appreciating what we have now. One day our children will be old enough to lead their own lives and we will be left with distant memories of the precious moments we had together.

A Child Friendly Environment
Caserío del Mirador welcomes families and recognises that for many parents the happiness of the children is the key to a successful holiday. With over 30,000sq metres of land there is plenty of space to play games and enjoy the countryside. Although playing in the pool and going to the beach will be the highlight for most children's holiday, there is a wide variety of activities suitable for children available of all ages all year round. If you have any specific requirements for your children, please let us know.

What We Provide
For your baby we can provide a cot, bouncy chair, steam sterliser and bottle warmer. Spanish nappies are sized by weight in kilos, and baby lotion is not generally available. If you would like baby toiletries to be waiting on your arrival or if there is anything your baby needs to make the holiday more comfortable for everyone please ask.

For toddlers we can provide a high chair or booster seat. Depending on the age of your children we have duplo bricks, sorting and stacking toys for very small children. We can provide story books and toys, and the house has a well stocked video room should the weather turn against you or you want the children to take some time out of the sun. For non swimmers we have a range of buoyancy aids and the pool can be alarmed, but children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times.

Older children will love the freedom offered by the space we have at Les Murtes. Let them romp on the terraces, often football and volleyball tournaments spring from nowhere. 24 hour broad band internet access gives useful checks on surf conditions on the webcams strategically placed all down the coast. The sports and activities available locally may be the highlight of their holiday and we can provide guidance depending on their interests.

Grown-up Children
When the pressures of university or those first pennyless days of work become all too much, a welcome invitation to join you for an away break is just the ticket. You may think they have more interesting things to do, but you may be surprised as to how much they miss the comfort of being with Mum and Dad. Life can be tough for young people and to come away with family and friends can clear the system and set them up for the challenges they face in their exciting lives.

Exploring the Valley
Right on our doorstep in the Valley of Les Murtes is ample opportunity for walking and exploring. Donkey rides can be arranged and some easy half hour walks make for a pleasant way for the family to spend time together in the early evening. The flora and fauna of the area may be of interest too, budding botanists and zoologists will find plenty to arouse their curiousity.

Children's Attractions
Despite the rural nature of the area, Caserío del Mirador is close to riding, tennis, bike hire, and in Jalon itself are two museums, a dolls house shop, and the thriving Saturday market holds appeal for children of all ages. Within 30 minutes, there are numerous beaches and within 45 minutes is the largest tourist resort in Europe, Benidorm with its three large scale theme parks, Terra Mitica, Mundomar and Aqualandia.

Health & Safety
We have a first aid box which all guests are welcome to use if required. We also have a supply of children's paracetamol suspension. If you bring an E111 or private health insurance policy, your family can receive treatment at the 24 hour clinic in Benissa. Children are the responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times.

About Walking

Walking Holidays in Spain
Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe after Switzerland, combine this with its dramatic coastline and wonderful climate, you have all the ingredients for an ideal walking holiday.

Caserío del Mirador is located in Marina Alta between Alicante and Valencia. The area made famous by Bob Stansfield in his two volumes of Costa Blanca Mountain Walks (published by Cicerone). They will inspire anyone to become interested in this region of Spain with its own language and customs. The terrain is outstanding with rock formations higher than anything in England and Wales where you can enjoy panoramic views over the Mediterranean coast and across to the Baleric Isles. An ideal area for a walking holiday in Spain.

Walking is a journey of discovery where you can enjoy different landscapes, learn about a new area while benefiting from a little healthy exercise. There are a diversity of walks available for all levels and interests. For the sake of ease, we divide our walks into categories to give you a flavour of what is available and to help you select those ones you are going to enjoy the most while you are here.

Mountain Walks
These are generally the most demanding, some may require a little bit of a scramble at times but the rewards will be breath taking. We are situated close to the Sierra de Bernia (1,100 meters), Sierra del Ferrier (900 meters), and the Coll de Rates a local beauty spot. The Bernia mountain climb starts at a natural water font, has a cave where you cross from one side of the mountain to the other and passes the ruins of a castle.

Coastal Walks
With a skyline dominated by limestone rock formations, the peninsular has many aspects from sandy bays to hidden coves. The best known climbs are the Penon de Ifach, a 400 meter rock in Calpe and the Montgo, a 750 meter mountain between Javea and Denia. For those simply just wanting to take in the sea breeze, there is the promenade between the restaurants and beach at Arenal and a climb down to Sardinera Cove, both in Javea. The castle at Denia, a historical port since time began is also very popular.

Scenic Rambles
The Jalon Valley is an agriculturally rich area, with vineyards, almond, olive and citrus groves. If you want to escape the need to get in to your car, there are several walks on our doorstep. A number of restaurants are a short distance away, so you go as far or as near as you like.

Town and Country
The joys of market day and the local café bar are central to life in rural Spain. These routes are for you to enjoy the local towns and their surrounding country. They include Alcalali, Parcent, Lliber Benissa, Oliva, Murla and of course Jalon.

Seasonal Walks
Ever wondered how it would feel to walk among fragrant orange blossom, or under the vibrant colours of almond blossom in February. These walks are to enjoy the countryside at it best. Out of season, Spain is far from the dry arid image of the summer. There are endless spring flowers, green and lush vines and beautiful blossoms to savour.
