Not your normal Bed and Breakfast, the Five Continents is a reflection of the owners world travels and life experiences. Your host has visited or lived in five of the seven continents of the world, hence the name. Located with in walking distance to the French Quarter on the historic Esplanade, the Greek Revival Mansion is done in the Italianate style. It preserves and radiates the atmosphere of the late 1800's with original details such as 15 foot cove ceilings that terminate in a delicate plaster shell motif, ceiling medallions and the original cyrstal gasolier chaneliers. The house boasts eight fireplaces and hardwood floors. The guest suites are upstairs and are named for different Continents...Europe, Asia and Eurasia. They are furnished with an electic collection of European and American antiques as well as reproduction pieces. All suites feature Oriental rugs, 12 foot ceilings ceiling fans, air conditioning, cable TV and cast iron claw-foot bathtubs outfitted with showers. The full hot gourmet Breakfast is a treat for the palate. It is served each morning in the formal dining room. It begins with seasonal fruit or fruit and yogart, freshly brewed coffee or a selection of fine tea's, and juice. The main course can be a Smoked Salmon Scramble with fresh hot biscuits, Shrimp Benidict or Buckwheat and Pecan Waffles with a side of Maple Sausage links.
