Horse Creek Ranch can be found 10 km. east of the historic community of Fort Assiniboine. It is nestled between the beautiful Sand Hills Wildland Park and the meandering Athabasca River. The ranch is only a 2 hour drive northwest of Edmonton, Alberta’s capital city, or as a side excursion (east and north) coming from Jasper National Park. We have accommodation for up to 12 guests. New this year is a Holiday House for rent, right on the ranch. Your host, Siebe Brouwer, offers a variety of experiences for their guests. Enjoy the challenge of working with cattle as you sort, drive and pen them. This Team Penning activity is featured at our Ranch and is North America’s fastest growing equine sport. Horsemanship instruction is available for those wishing to hone their riding skills and for a quieter pace, enjoy nature to its fullest exploring the fabulous Athabasca sandhills on horse back. View birds, unique vegetation, and a wide variety of wildlife as you savour the peaceful solitude of the trails. We also offer horse clinics in Holland. Activities: Apart from horse back riding, there are other popular activities to participate in throughout the season such as flower and berry picking (in season), hiking, swimming in the river, horse shoes, gold panning, games and dummy roping. At Horse Creek Ranch visitors have the opportunity to participate in cattle work on the ranch and experience trail riding through a portion of Alberta's historic Klondike Trail. Winter activities feature a superb staging area for snowmobiles; linked regional trail system, accommodation & home cooked meals. We also offer Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Cabins that appeal to families and couples. Our cozy cabins are recently constructed offering privacy, independence and a genuine feeling of ranch lifestyle. In addition, we provide RV sites for Motorhomes. For travellers with Horse Trailers, sites are also available. Tent trailers and other types of campers are welcome too! Often our guests wish to camp and follow the extensive trail system through the Sand Hills Park either on foot or horseback. A trailer waste disposal site is located in the nearby village of Fort Assiniboine. Close to the Horse Creek Ranch a nice country style holiday home (5 persons) is for rent. The house has a central living room, three (3) bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. This place is next door to the farm of the Brouwer Family, about 10 kilometers from Fort Assiniboine. Self catering or meals available at the ranch house. You will find peace, nature and lots of space around. The Alberta Wildland Sandhills Park is just around the corner and excellent for hiking.
