The house is very spacious with 3 bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, large salon and family bathroom. It has a private courtyard for outdoor eating and an off-the-road gated parking area. The present property is a village house and a workshop joined together and provides spacious accommodation for 6 people. The workshop once belonged to a small, independent wine producer and wine was produced there until about 1950. The two small rooms / store cupboards leading from the large salon were formerly wine vats before the doors were put into them. The grapes were pushed into the vats from trapdoors leading from the huge grenier above and left to ferment. The taps still stick out of the wall from each vat where the wine could be tested as it matured. We have made one of the vats into a small play room and the other into a store cupboard. The village of Puichéric is typical of the Minervois area of France – a village clustered round its church and surrounded by vineyards. This house in the centre of the village is a typical village house with its tiled floors and open fire place. The river Aude runs along the southern boundary of the village and the Canal du Midi along the north. It is 18 miles east of the medieval city of Carcassonne and 25 miles from Narbonne Puichéric is a working, wine-producing village of the area where you can get a taste of the real France. Its people are friendly and there are enough shops to satisfy everyday needs. Its closeness to the Canal du Midi and the river Aude make it ideal for walking and cycling and it is central for visiting a very interesting part of Southern France - the area from Narbonne to Carcassonne, from Minerve to the castles of the Corbières It has a selection of excellent local shops - baker, butcher, mini-market, fruit and vegetables, newsagent, hairdresser and pharmacy, and also a doctor and dentist. The local bar/café is open in the summer season
