About Weather/Climate/Temperature

Sintra is in a micro-climate usually cooler in the mountains and misty in the mornings. It is a beautiful hilly green terrain with stunning views of the Atlantic coastline. It is also quieter than many areas closer to Lisbon and Cascais - it was the summer retreat of the kings.

About Beaches

There are 5 beaches within 5-15 minutes of us. Some have surfing shops and facilities for renting equipment. All have restaurants and cafés. Local fisherman often are seen early in the morning or in the evening. There are lifeguards but it is always important to read the warning flags. The most striking beach is Praia de Adraga (down from our nearest village, Almoçageme) as it is wedged between 2 enormous cliffs. Guincho beach and Praia Grande are famous for their surfing competitions.
