Built in the grand Victorian style (circa 1883), the Lyndon House was originally part of the Fayette Park community located on the north outskirts of Lexington. Today the Inn is part of City’s Historic Downtown, noted for 19th century architecture, mature trees, and beautiful parks. In front of the house is one of the last remaining hitching posts that once lined North Broadway. Another point of interest is the 19th century limestone curbs that reflect the original street width (6 lanes). These features are enchanting links between Lexington’s present and past. The Lyndon House is in walking distance to the city’s finest restaurants, shops, theatres and parks. The famed Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland Race Course, and dozens of other attractions are within a fifteen-minute drive. On site parking adds convenience to accessibility. Guests are greeted with a warm welcome and invited to “make themselves at home”. This includes the café style seating on the veranda, which overlooks the rear gardens. In the evening some guest enjoy a glass of wine on the veranda before walking to dinner. In the morning it’s a cup of coffee in the Solarium with the local newspaper. Mornings at the Lyndon House are replete with casual cuisine, pleasant conversation, and 19th century style. Before guests settle into their rooms, the Innkeeper gives them a tour of the first floor, usually beginning with the solarium. The parlor and dining room shows off the craftsmanship of the era: original plaster walls, white oak floors, ornate cherry woodwork, and elaborate crown molding. Guest quarters exudes Victorian grace while artfully blending modern amenities with period restorations. Each room has a private bath.
