In this group of traditional craftsmen's cottages, the whole family will appreciate the games room with table-tennis, pool, darts and other games. Good beaches and restaurants are a short drive away, as is the typically Cornish fishing village of Polperro. Also, there's a hard tennis court, putting green, swing-ball, pigmy goats, rabbits and miniature ponies etc to feed. Hagar, the owners' amiable blue Great Dane, completes the picture. Every building is named after its original use, such as Blacksmith's, Carpenter's and Miller's, and each is decorated inside, with interesting appropriate pictures and artefacts, particularly antique tools. Leather hobnail boots and saddlery are interesting reminders of Ploughman's past history while Cobbler's boasts authentic relics from a shoemaker's. There are eleven cottages altogether (sleeping 2 to 6), each with its own individual charm. Most have exposed stonework to add to their character and many have a genuine antique four-poster or half-tester bed at least in the main bedroom. Cots and occasional single beds are available in most. The kitchens in cottages sleeping 4 or more have dishwashers and fridge-freezers. Among many details we admired were the comfortable settee/deep armchairs in Ploughman's and an old Ordnance Survey map on the landing wall. In Dairymaid's we liked the antique half-tester bed, the pretty fabrics and open fire. Tinner's which has a bunk bedroom and shower downstairs, plus two doubles upstairs, is popular with families as children sleeping in the bunks can feel independent! Tremaine Green certainly has the makings for a memorable holiday, and the double-glazing with all-inclusive oil-fired central heating makes it a cosy winter retreat too; four cottages have real fires aswell. Videos are available for rent and Penny Spreckley has written a leaflet on local dog-walks. Tickets for the Eden Project (14 miles away) are for sale to avoid queuing at the ticket office.
