Tunnel House is a newly refurbished holiday property situated in the heart of Appledore North Devon, located only a minutes walk away from Appledore’s famous quay where you will find many pubs - restaurants and galleries to browse, the village of Appledore is set on the estuary where the rivers Taw & Torridge meet and head out to sea, Appledore quay is central to life in the village with many activities to take part in, you can enjoy fishing trips - crabbing contests - pilot gig racing - Appledore Regatta (early August) or take the ferry across the river to Instow with its huge sandy beach or just wander the narrow streets of this 14th century fishing village, for the more adventurous of you surfing - karting & arcades are all to be found in nearby Westward Ho! with probably the best sandy beach in North Devon (3 miles long) wet suit & board hire are available on the beach, for people who play golf we have selected the best three courses in the area with all contact details on our Things To Do page, bike hire is another family favourite, hire a bike and head along the Tarka trail to either Barnstaple or Torrington (Barnstaple’s a flatter route) kayaks are also available to hire if you fancy taking to the water, (see Bideford bike hire on things to do page). Tunnel House is situated set back from one of Appledore’s oldest streets , built around the 1800’s this 3 bedroom Victorian grade II listed building is arranged over 3 floors easily sleeping 5 people with one of the top rooms with river views, Tunnel house is equipped with all modern appliances new kitchen with washer/dryer – oven/hob – dishwasher etc, in the lounge a wood burning stove and patio doors leading to a very secluded secure courtyard garden with table & chairs & barbeque for you to enjoy, we have tried to make Tunnel House as child & family friendly as possible with stair gates fitted on both sets of stairs and a cot is available free of charge for those families who require it, for many more local attractions & places to eat & drink please see our Things To Do page, most of all enjoy your holiday. Entrance; Via the tunnel at No 8 Bude Street, the tunnel leads into the front courtyard garden with patio table & chairs – barbeque for you to use, a useful outside toilet to the side of the house where inside you will also find fishing nets - crab lines and buckets, you are more than welcome to use these, all we ask is that if you loose or break them just replace them. Front door with stairs to first floor, lounge on left kitchen on right. Lounge; Two comfortable sofa’s wood burning stove, patio doors to courtyard garden, freeview TV - DVD - hi-fi - electric storage heater. Kitchen; New galley style fitted kitchen with washer/dryer - dishwasher - microwave - oven & hob - fridge, solid beech worktops & dining table and bench seating, all cooking utensils - cutlery - plates & cups provided. 1st Floor Bedroom; A very large double bedroom with fitted wardrobe (travel cot inside) chest of drawers & electric storage heater. Bathroom; Large bathroom with bath - electric shower, separate toilet & electric shaver point. Stairs to second floor & bedrooms 2 & 3; Bedroom 2; A large attic style room with views across the river, 2 single beds, built in wardrobe - chest of drawers, electric storage heater. Bedroom 3; Again a good size bedroom with a single bed, chest of drawers and electric storage heater. All bedding inc duvets - covers - sheets & pillows are provided, all you need to bring is bedding for the cot (if required) and beach & bath towels. Tunnel house is all electric with an electricity pay meter located in the kitchen which takes £1 coins. SORRY NO PETS ALLOWED AND PLEASE NO SMOKING INSIDE THE HOUSE.
