The ground floor in the house includes a large kitchen with dining table for 6 to 8 people, a living room and a covered outdoor terrace with dining table also. In the first floor there are four sleeping bedrooms, three of them with private bathroom and an outdoor terrace. On the top floor there are a large gym and a roof terrace. All the house is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden. On the side there is a private parking place. The kitchen has all the necessary kitchen utensils including microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, coffee maker, toaster, gas cooker and electric oven. In addition to guidebooks and maps, there is also a GPS device with maps of Madeira. From the house you can make free phone calls to landlines in several countries around the world. A free high speed Internet access (Wi-Fi) throughout the entire house is available. In the attic you also have free access to a PC with video call, printer and scanner. In the living room on the ground floor there is a 46 "flat screen monitor with cable TV with a lot of international channels, DVD player, stereo system, screen play hard disk, TV photo card viewer and IPod audio connection. In the gym in the attic there are professional fitness equipment (cross-trainer, bike, cardio-vascular and muscular equipment). Add to that a permanently installed electronic dart game. We, a couple with two daughters (23 and 18 years) and a boyfriend, had a wonderful stay. Our host transported us from the airport to a marvelous house. In the house we were astonished. The house was so complete! There was fruit, bread and a filled fridge. The rooms were great, so much space! (no photo shopping) Internet everywhere, free phone calls, a large television, films on DVD and so on. My husband needs to dialyze, so the host showed us the right direction trough Funchal. I am sure we never would have found it in time by ourselves. By the way he showed us some other parts of interest in Funchal, including a driving lesson. Driving in Madeira is very different from driving in Holland. The streets are small and steep. And the inhabitants like to park their car everywhere. So when our daughter met with a car accident the host came to help us. The host even encouraged our daughter to drive again. Wir können dieses Haus uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Es ist toll eingerichtet, sehr sauber, lässt keine Kleinigkeit offen, sogar Haarshampoo stand in jedem Bad bereit. Für Vegetarier wie uns gibt es in der Küche ausreichend scharfe Messer und reichlich Geschirr zum Selbstkochen. Egal, ob jemand Sonne oder Schatten liebt, das Haus hält viele Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten bereit. Vor allem ist die unglaubliche Gastfreundschaft der Madeireser im allgemeinen und die unserer Vermieter im speziellen hervor zu heben. Ob es darum ging, einen Geburtstagskuchen für unsere Tochter beim Konditor zu organisieren oder eine Surfschule zu finden, immer stand uns jemand sofort mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Das Baden ist auf Madeira -wie in einem unserer Reiseführer stand- tatsächlich ein Erlebnis der besonderen Art, wir haben es als ganz besonders toll, da so natürlich empfunden, speziell die Meerwasserbecken in Porto Moniz. Our decision to rent this house was made upon the descriptions of previous renters on the home page. None of them overacted. The description of the house is completely correct, on top of that the owner has thought about many things which make live easier, starting from the transport from/to the airport, the welcome basket with fruits, the strawberries you could harvest every day, etc. Everything you would need is there. Highlights for "boys" are the electronic facilities (computer, printer, high speed internet connection, WLAN etc.). All these details show that the landlord is really caring about the well-being of his guests. The nearby motorway (could be seen in Google-Maps) is in reality far away and not audible. The dogs in the neighbourhood are typical the island. The owner and his family (they do not live in the house) are very kind so that you will not hesitate to ask questions any time. We would rent this house again any time, even with one couple more there would be plenty of space left. In our opinion, you cannot find a better landlord in Madeira! The only problem that could arise: the more such comments are on the website, the less you might get a free rental-period in the future. Die Beschreibungen und Angaben stimmen alle, zusätzlich sind an viele Kleinigkeiten gedacht die das Leben einfacher machen, angefangen vom Transport vom / zum Flughafen, dem Begrüßungskorb mit Essen, den Erdbeeren die man ernten konnte, das Vorhandensein von Geschirrspülmittel, Waschmittel etc. Man merkt an diesen vielen Dingen dass es dem Besitzer nicht einfach um das Geld geht, sondern er sich viele Gedanken um das Wohlergehen seiner Gäste macht. Dazu passt auch dass wir das vorhandene Auto einfach Tageweise benutzen konnten, ohne dass man sich im voraus festlegen muss. Die nahe gelegene Autobahn hört man wirklich nicht, das Gebell der Hunde im Viertel ist wohl Inseltypisch. Der Besitzer und sein Sohn sind sehr freundlich und durch ihre offene Art hat man auch keine Scheu sich jederzeit zu melden wenn es einmal Fragen gibt. Wir würden jederzeit wieder die Wohnung nehmen, auch mit 3 Paaren ist noch mehr als genügend Platz. There is off street parking, large enough for the Ford Galaxy we hired. The house is very well equipped, and the internet access and sat-nav were very useful. Like all high tech items seem to need, occasional rebooting seems to be needed, and the one time the sat-nav locked up, the villa owner Jose got it working again before our next trip out. Jose was very helpful throughout our visit, without being intrusive. He also posted our forgotten clock radio back to the UK free of charge. The house is in a generally quiet area, the local dogs do bark a little in the mornings, but may have only been responding to the noise our children made at 7am. If you want a good base to visit Funchal and Madeira, this pleasant, well equipped and clean villa comes with our recommendation. Jose --------------------------- Guest review 23 'Perfekt eingerichtetes Ferienhaus zum Wohlfühlen' Date of Stay: December 2011 Zum Jahreswechsel 2011/2012 waren wir mit 6 Erwachsenen und 3 Kindern in dem wunderschönen Ferienhaus von José Chaves. Wir wurden mit drei PKW’s am Flughafen abgeholt, für die kleinen Kinder waren jeweils Kindersitze vorhanden und der Kühlschrank war gut gefüllt für die ersten beiden Mahlzeiten. Es ist in diesem Haus wirklich alles vorhanden, was man zum Wohlfühlen braucht. Man fühlt sich wie zuhause. Insbesondere war es angenehm, dass jede Familie ihr eigenes Badezimmer mit Toilette hatte. Gerade zum Jahreswechsel war es toll, über das Internet-Telefon kostenlos aufs deutsche Festnetz telefonieren zu können. Für das Silvester-Feuerwerk hatten wir auf der Dachterasse einen 1a-Platz, es war ein unvergesslich beeindruckendes Erlebnis. Den gemauerten Grill im Garten haben wir oft genutzt und sind daher nur selten essen gegangen. Das Holz für den Grill wurde stets nachgeliefert, ohne dass wir danach fragen mussten. Die Kinder (1, 3 und 10 Jahre alt) haben sich sehr wohl gefühlt und haben den schönen Garten und die vorhandenen Spielsachen ständig genutzt. Herr Chaves war immer erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit. An diesen Silvester-Urlaub in Funchal mit allen Sehenswürdigkeiten wie Korbschlitten-Fahrten, Levada-Wanderungen, wunderschönen Gärten, segeln mit der Karavelle usw. wird uns immer in besonders guter Erinnerung bleiben. Alle im Internet gemachten Angaben stimmen und die Fotos spiegeln die Realität wieder. Wir können dieses Ferienhaus jederzeit empfehlen und kommen gerne wieder. Jose und seine Familie sind sehr zuvorkommend und lesen einem jeden Wunsch von den Augen ab. Der Sohn des Hauses, Joao,machte mit uns zu einen angemessenen Preis eine Fahrt über die Insel. Das Haus liegt wirklich ruhig in einer Seitenstraße/Sackgasse. Der Ausblick von den beiden Balkonen auf den Hafen von Funchal und die Altstadt ist wirklich grandios. In das Zentum hinab kann man gut laufen ( ca 15-20 min. ). Zurück empfielt sich ein Taxi, wegen der Steigung ( ca 6 Euro pro Fahrt ). Wir empfehlen das Haus uneingeschränkt weiter. Das Haus ist sehr sauber, gut gepflegt und aussergewoehnlich gut ausgestattet (Kueche, Unterhaltungselektronik, Liegestuehle, Fitnessraum). Selbst Verbrauchsartikel, wie Spuelmaschinen-Tabs, Toilettenpapier, Duschgel etc. sind verhanden. Der Welcome-Korb ist so umfangreich, dass wir zu zweit eine Woche daran gegessen haben . Touristische Unterlagen ueber Madeira mit Strassen- und Wanderkarten sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Und falls wirklich etwas nicht zur Verfuegung stehen sollte, ist der Besitzer jederzeit erreichbar und sehr bemueht, alles zu besorgen. Der Vermieter und Eigentümer ist ein überaus freundlicher Mann, dem es sehr am Herzen liegt, dass man als Urlauber eine schöne Zeit in seinem Haus verbringt. Das gelingt durch die Gepflegtheit des Hauses, dem freundlichem Empfang (für das erste Mahl ist bei Ankunft im Haus alles vorhanden) und das für Urlauber durchdacht eingerichtete Haus. Restaurants kann ich nicht empfehlen. Wir zogen es vor, in der großen und schönen Küche zu kochen oder den Grill im Garten anzuschmeißen. Man fühlt sich wie zu Hause. José et son fils nous ont réservé un très bon accueil avec un un super frigo garni à notre arrivé. Le point de vue plein Sud sur Funchal et l'Océan est sympatique. Jean-Pierre L. --------------------------- Guest review 6 Recommended House Date of Stay: March 2009 My Wife and I, our 2 grandchildren and our foster son were greeted my Jose an his Son at the Airport and between them took us to their beautiful House. It was all we hoped it would be and much more. It was huge, beautifully furnished and well equipped. Everything was so clean. Jose also provided us with a large basket of fruit, essential groceries and provided even soft toys for the children in their rooms. It was a fabulous welcome! Later that day Jose took us into Town in his car and pointed out the best places to shop for groceries and the following day took us into town to show us the local beaches and lido for the children. We highly recommend this property and could not wish for a more hospitable Host. Fantastic!!! See you again! Date of Stay: January 2009 My daughter and I are just back from spending 8 weeks at this beautiful property. It is well furnished to a high standard. The owner went out of his way to get my daughter a good internet connection so she could work from the house. His wife cleans the house every Monday and it is spotless. Their son met us at the airport. As we had done sightseeing in previous years we didn't hire a car. The owner was very willing to take us in his car into the town. The day we arrived he and his wife took us to a new shopping centre to get our groceries. They are a lovely family and very helpful but not intrusive. From the top floor terrace one can watch the ships in the harbour in sunshine. The middle terrace gets the sun from lunchtime to sunset and lunch was taken by the patio at front door in sunshine. The family went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable and memorable stay. --------------------------- Guest review 4 Recommended House Date of Stay: January 2009 4 of us stayed at the property in Jan 2009, and we can thoroughly recommend it. The property is large, and has a commanding south-west view over Funchal (i.e. beautiful sunset views from the balcony). Rooms are large, with top quality polished wooden floors, good furniture/fittings, good kitchen, and a well-equipped gymnasium on the top floor. Jose Chaves was an excellent host, and really looked after us, - including arranging for his son to meet us at the airport and guide our hire car to the property. In summary, we recommend it without hesitation. --------------------------- Guest review 3 Date of Stay: November 2008 First of all, thank you very much José and Maria for your generosity and hospitality. We have enjoyed our stay here in Funchal, not in the least because of the very hospitable owners Jose & Maria. We remember the evening they took us to Câmara de Lobos for a “poncha”, the madeiran version of punch. And on our last evening we were pleasantly surprised that they took us to Funchal to see the Christmas illuminations. We can recommend visits to Ponta do Pargo, Ponta do Sol, Santana (you need good weather!), Câmara de Lobos, Caniço. The levada´s are wonderful, but again you need good weather, especially if you have a bad knee. A tasting of the Madeira wines at Blandy´s is a very nice experience. Restaurants we´ve liked are: Coral at Câmara de Lobos, Quinta at Monte, La Pasta, the Golden Gate, and do try some bolo de mel, Maria knows which one! And if you´re brave enough take the Teleférico to Monte and ride part of the way down in the sleigh (not for the paint hearted!). Tout le confort pour passer d'agréable vacances (intérieur comme extérieur: barbecue, terrasse, chaises longues, terrain...). Endroit calme, accessible très facilement en bus comme en voiture. La maison est idéalement placée, très spacieuse et dans un endroit très calme. L'accueil, la disponibilité et la gentillesse de José (le propriétaire) fut extraordinaire.
