The Old Chapel United Kingdom

Prices from £400 per Week
The Old Chapel, a beautifully restored 19th century brick and flint former Primitive Methodist chapel located a few miles from the idyllic North Norfolk coast, makes perfect self-catering Norfolk holiday cottage accommodation. The cottage holds a Four Star rating from the English Tourist Board, and was also recently given a Gold Award for exceptional quality of accommodation and service. The original character of The Chapel has been preserved, with the main body retained as a dramatic open-plan living area reaching to the heavily-beamed roof; this is overlooked by a mezzanine bedroom accessed by a cast iron spiral staircase. Sleeping accommodation is provided by a king size bed in the mezzanine , supplemented by a double sofabed in the main living area. In winter The Chapel is particularly cosy with a wood burning stove in the corner inglenook fireplace and a very efficient oil-fired modern central heating system, making it an ideal year-round Norfolk holiday cottage. The bright and airy fitted kitchen has plenty of work surfaces ideal for self-catering, and is equipped with all modern conveniences, including electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and other facilities: everything you need for creating great meals from the amazing produce available locally. We’ll even leave a couple of bottles of locally brewed real ale and a pair of the famous Bray’s Cottage Pork Pies in the fridge to get you started. The roomy modern bathroom is equipped with a WC, sink, shower and washing machine attached. If the peaceful North Norfolk lifestyle leaves you craving 21st century leisure pursuits, don’t worry. The Old Chapel is equipped with broadband wireless internet access, high definition television and DVD player, internet telephone, and cabling so that you can just plug your iPod into the hifi system. There is also a selection of games and a good collection of books. Comprehensive details about how to get the most from your holiday in the village and the area can be found in the folder on the bookcase. The accommodation furnishings - including a working harmonium - reflect the building’s origins, and these are enhanced by fittings collected by the owner, a photographer based in Moscow, from his international travels, primarily in Russia, the Former Soviet Union, and Central Asia. The Chapel is also decorated with a small selection of the photographer’s iconic work for various international publications: prints are available for purchase on request. Outside the south-facing patio garden enjoys uninterrupted views of open fields and Hindolveston Wood. The garden is equipped with a barbeque, table and comfortable seating for outside dining: perfect for communing in the evening with our nearest neighbours, the wild pheasants and barn owls who reside in the adjoining fields. There is an off-road parking area for two cars. North Norfolk is a great place to relax, and we want all our guests to enjoy the best possible holiday, whether exploring meandering country lanes and villages or lazing on the miles of sandy beaches. So how are they getting on? All comments are from our 2009 holiday season guest book. “It’s been a privilege to spend our first family holiday as your first guests at The Old Chapel. The visitor information was invaluable. The wood burner has made our evenings very cosy, and the tranquility of the village has provided a much welcome break. Thank you for providing everything we needed to make a week’s holiday feel like a restful month. We would love to come again.” - Zoe, Kevin & Freddie, London “We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Old Chapel. It’s a beautiful property with all the mod cons. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.” - Rhi & Will, Berkshire “What a superb base The Old Chapel makes to discover the secrets of North Norfolk. The recommended lists of food suppliers and where to eat were very helpful. Thank you for all the books, maps and leaflets; we were spoilt for choice as to where to go each day. We love the house, its ambience and decor and hope to return.” - Susan & Ron, Essex “What a wonderful abode, so comfortable and cosy, well equipped, we loved the decor - we loved everything!” - Barbara & Jeff, Bedfordshire “Such a lovely and interesting holiday home.” - John & Vicky, Suffolk “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Chapel and really enjoyed visiting Norfolk. I can’t believe how much we’ve packed in on our short visit, but know that we will be here again.” - Jacqui & Jack, Surrey “We had a wonderful time at The Old Chapel, I couldn't think of a single way to improve it. Thanks very much for making it so welcoming; the garden was particularly lovely. We would love to come again and will recommend it to friends.” - Leila, London “It has been a privilege to spend a week here. We have only started to scratch the surface of all there is to do; I think a return visit is called for.” - Rod & Marie, Somerset For more information please visit our website: www.norfolk-self-catering.co.uk
