About Weather/Climate/Temperature
Estival strong heats are often compensated by a breeze which starts to blow in middle of afternoon and makes it possible to have evenings much fresher than in Athens.
However, during the heat waves which last several days, be not astonished to see the thermometer posting 40°c or more.
Differently, the average temperature in summer is of 26,5°c but, in general, at the semi-day it makes easily of 28 with 35°c.
The wind (Bora) and the rain refresh the air notably.
Kefalonia is an island and the winter storms can prevent the sea traffic during one or two days.
Sometimes night falls of temperatures between 0 and 5°c can occur in December and January.
Autumn and spring are in general very pleasant, although strong downpours are frequent. As soon as the sun points its nose, the temperatures climb.
Best moments to come
July and August are the months most attended by the Greek and foreign tourists. It often made there very chaud.
If you are impassioned of bathe and if you are not dependent on school vacations, then why not benefit from the average season as sunny as its prices are interesting!
May and June has the advantage of offering a good compromise between sun and wellbeing and of making it possible to visit Céphalonie green and flowered, while September and October make it possible to benefit from an end of summer clémente.
If you attach more importance to the beauty of the landscapes and the meeting with the autochtones rather than with “idleness”, then choose without hesitating the period out-season. Your camera will accompany you everywhere and will bring back unforgettable images from there for you.
April and November is perfect to feel the wind which dishevels and to see splendid sunsets.
From December to March, the glances turn to the Ainos mount which covers sometimes snow. The panorama is then époustouflant: The mountain at the seaside!

About Beaches
The sand beaches end of Kaminia and Mouda make it possible to the families to slacken.
Water goes down soft inclined there what makes it possible to the children to splash in all security.
It is on these beaches as sea turtles "Caretta Caretta"come to lay eggs, helped by the association Katelios Group, which ensures protection of the environment.
At the edge of the beach of Mouda you will discover a “cantina” (restaurant-bar of edge of beach) with its symathic owners named Roula ans Soula.
Its famous keftedes (meat pellets) will make the treat of small like the large ones.
At the left of the cantina, a path bordered by banana trees leads to a small restaurant that should open in summer 2009.

The partly collapsed vault makes it possible the sky to be reflected in water whose diversity of blue is really attractive.
The highest mountain of Kefalonia is the Ainos mount which culminates with 1628m.
This mountain, emerged from the sea, is famous since antiquity. Some would see it even in descriptions of Homère. In any case, impossible not to notice it.
Take the road which, at the beginning of Argostóli, leads to the Ainos mount. This giant emerges suddenly from a thick forest of black fir trees whose branches have the characteristic to rise upwards.
The Ainos Mount was called the black mountain by the Venetian ones because of its forest cover of a dark green.
These baptized fir trees “Fir tree of Céphalonie” (Abies Cephalonica) exist only here. In 1962 was created the “National park of the Ainos Mount” to protect the animal species and especially the rich local flora in more than one way.
