Local Area Details
About
Cyprus enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with dry, hot weather from April through to November. Winters are generally mild although this is the season for rain (which is always welcome)
About Weather/Climate/Temperature
drinks in north Cyprus are very reasonably priced. Beer - about £2.50 per pint, local spirits for £2.
About Bars
Restaurants aplenty, some nightclubs, but only on the outskirts of towns so that there is no noise pollution
About Nightlife
Car essential, only dolmus or taxis. Taxis are quite inexpensive though!
About Transport
Loads of lovely sandy beaches - some run by hotel where a charge is made for sunbeds, some offer free access. Most have a bar/restaurant nearby.
About General Entertainment
The Korenium Golf Club, about 20 minutes away by car, has an international standard 18 hole course, and will always welcome visitors to North Cyprus.
About Sailing
The waters around North Cyprus are crystal clear, and there are many excellent diving sites, including old wrecks. Inside Kyrenia Castle there is a preserved boat from 2,300 years ago, which was discovered just off the coast - one of the oldest boats ever found
About The Gay Scene
Flights into Larnaca from almost every UK and European airport. We can arrange for a taxi to collect you and take you to Manzara - -about 1hour 15 minutes.
Ercan airport only has direct flights from Turkey so fly to Istanbul and change planes. Ercan to Manzara is 35 minutes by taxi
About Airport Information
North Cyprus has a plethora of castles, and many of the best-preserved ancient sites and building in the mediterranian. Kyrenia, St. Hilarion, Buffavento and Kantara castles, Soli and Vouni, the wonderful roman town of Salamis, and many superb other buildings in Famagusta, are all well worth a visit.
About Local Attrcations
Several lovely restaurants in Bellapais, some of whom will provide a free taxi service to and from Villa Manzara. Down towards the sea you will quickly reach Ozankoy, where again there are some excellent restaurants, while in Kyrenia you have the choice of harbour-side dining, or hunting out a little back-street eatery
About Local Restaurants
Driving is on the left as in the UK. Road signs are sometimes in English, sometimes in Turkish. Main roads are good, some minor roads are not tarmac, and there are some excellent drives over the nearby mountains if you hire a 4x4
About Tourist Board
Cyprus has over 9,000 years of human settlement, and there are many wonderful museums and outdoor sites to visit. Try looking up Mavi Kosk - the Blue House, which provides an insight into much more recent history
About History
You will not find the usual multi-national stores here -instead we have mostly locally run small businesses. All fruit and vegetables are locally produced, and the supermarkets carry both Cypriot and English products.
About Shopping
Ferries from Istanbul and Mersin on the Turkish mainland
