Wiht over 300 days of sunshine, summer temperatures well into the 30s and winter temperaturs that average around 15-20 Celsius, this is a very temperate climate. Winter nights can get chilly although temperatures rarely drop below 5 Celsius.

Most people rent a car, but taxis are cheap and csan be found n Praia da Luz. Buses run infrequently along the EN125 coastal road. But buses to Faro run regularly and are cheap, as is the train which leaves from Lagos along the entire ALgarve coast.

Prai da Luz is famous as a family friendly beach, with large area of sand and sheltered bay. Plenty of beach infrastructure including restaurants, bars, etc. Meia Praia, Porto Mós, Salema, Burgau, Batata and many other beaches are within a 10 minute drive.
