About Weather/Climate/Temperature
There is a little bar in the hamlet of Pessarou ran by the very friendly Jean-Marie who likes to practise his English, pizza night every Wednesday. There is a bar in the village of La Bastide Clairence 5 minutes' drive away and bars in the other nearby Basque villages. Biarritz has an excellent choice of bars (including the wonderful tapas/pintxos bars) as do St. Jean de Luz, Bayonne, Pau and San Sebastian. The old town of San Sebastian is famous for the 'pintxos' tour.

About Nightlife
Hiring or having a car is essential, as we are in the countryside. We can recommend car hire companies. There is a daily bus from the village of La Bastide Clairence to Bayonne and the beach at Anglet. There is a train station at Bayonne and Biarritz.

The Basque coastline is famous for its miles of sandy golden beaches and it's excellent surf conditions. Many large surf competitions are held along the coastline. Biarritz and St. Jean de Luz have sheltered family beaches as well as those well-known for surfers.

During the summer months, the Basque villages all have different festivals and events. There are also many concerts on the beaches and a large music concert in Bilbao. The Gare du Midi theatre in Biarritz hosts many events, including ballet, flamenco dancing, opera, etc.
