Nestled amongst ancient oak and chestnut trees at the end of a picturesque valley with a panoramic view of the Pyrenees, Castel de Fonpre is a haven of calm. Only 40 minutes from Pau airport, the property is surrounded by lawns, rose hedges and gardens and the morning birdsong or the calls of owls and crickets in the evenings is all that disturbs the peace. The property offers a gite and chambres d’hotes, as well as accommodation for horses – either lairage while travelling or on a riding holiday with their owners. A sparkling heated pool surrounded by parasols and comfortable loungers welcomes guests, who will also find many other shaded or sunny spots, in which to relax and enjoy the view in this picturesque, tranquil corner of south west France. The local town of Lembeye, less than 10 minutes away, provides all amenities including an excellent butcher and charcuterie and several restaurants and bars. The gite is approached through its covered terrace cloaked in jasmine and surrounded by climbing roses and flower beds with a panoramic view of the Pyrenees. On one floor and suitable for handicapped access throughout, 'Le Nid des Hiboux' provides a perfect place to use as a base for exploring the surrounding country or to just relax and enjoy the serenity. A large sitting/dining area is complemented by a small but well equipped kitchenette, with microwave, electric oven and a good sized fridge freezer; a bedroom with two single beds (or one double)and a bathroom with separate WC and walk in shower. The gite is suitable for 2 people. French television, a CD player and a BBQ are available. Sheets and towels are included in the cost and provided weekly. A minimum stay of 3 nights is requested.
