Property Details of Andalucia House

The house has been built on the side of a mountain, on the edge of the village of Torvizcon with a rare private secluded garden. People who have visited, have called the house a "Tardis". The main bedroom with "wet room" en suite, is downstairs and is lovely and cool in the summer months, there is a wood burning stove in the TV room opposite the main bedroom. Upstairs are the remaining bedrooms and bathroom, you then go through an archway to the open plan lounge with another wood burning stove, dining room & galley kitchen. A back door leads onto a small patio with built-in BBQ and path leading to stairs which go up to the large roof terrace which boasts amazing views of the surrounding mountains with the frequently snow capped Sierra Nevada mountain in the background, which is a ski resort in the winter and a great place to hike in the summer months The house is a typical Spanish house with shuttered windows which keeps the house cool in the hot summer months and the heat in during the cold winter months. The kitchen is equipped with bottled gas cooker, washing machine, fridge/freezer and double sink with ample cooking, crockery, cutlery for 6 people.

Local Area Details

The village of Torvizcon has been built on the side of the mountain in the Las Alpujarras region Known for its wine making,it is one hour away from Granada, 1 and a half hours from the ski resort of Sierra Nevada and 20 minutes away from the market town of Orgiva and approximately 48 minutes from the nearest beaches. Torvizcon has 3 supermarkets which supply everything a person needs, a pharmacy, bank, post office, fishmongers and a vegetable stall once a week. There are 4 bars which serve free tapas with alcoholic drinks, a hotel and a hostel which serve typical Spanish food. The people of Torvizcon are very welcoming and friendly. The village swimming pool is open to the public during the months of July and August. There are many fiestas in the village and surrounding areas throughout the year, the main one being the San Antonio Abad fiesta which is a fire festival held in January. Torvizcon is on the hiking cycling route and is also visited by horse riders with stabling nearby

Torvizcon enjoys lovely hot weather during the summer months and in the winter months it has warm days and cold nights.

There are 4 bars in the village of Torvizcon all of which serve free "Tapas" with alcoholic and soft drinks. They also serve lovely coffee.

A bus service is available from Torvizcon to and from Orgiva and Granada twice daily.

About Scenery/Beauty Spots
The Las Alpujarras is a mountainous area, the scenery is fantastic, the famous "white villages" are dotted along the mountains with many beauty spots. There are many walking / biking / horse riding trails. There is a folder with information about these in the house.
About Driving
A motorway runs from Malaga until approximately half an hour from Torvizcon where the road changes to a lovely scenic drive.

Various scenic walking routes are available for the novice or experienced hikers.
