Perhaps one of Bodrum's biggest selling points is its year-round good weather which is why tourists continue to visit the pensulina regardless of the season.
The Bodrum climate is wonderfully pleasant, neither too dry or too humid, though it is quite warm, particularly from late spring until mid-autumn. In summer, the dry heat rarely goes above 35 C, while the water is a balmy 25C.
The hottest months are July and August. For hot weather, visit in summer from July to mid-September – temperatures often exceed 35°C during July and August. In winter, although it gets chilly, it can be mild enough to dine outside, and all you will generally need is a sweater or lightweight raincoat.
Showers are unlikely in the summer months, but the rainfall is quite high in winter. With sea temperatures ranging from 16 to 25 degrees between summer and winter, Bodrum is a great location for diving holiday at any time of the year.

Travel and transport!

Minibus (Dolmus) and Local Buses: Minibus services to outlying villages leave from bus station in the center of Bodrum. Turgutreis and Yalikavak Municipalities run buses between Turgutreis-Yalikavak and Bodrum. Suburban ring services Bodrum, Gumbet and Bodrum - Icmeler depart from bus station; pick up and disembark passengers at points in between. Please remember to learn the latest dolmus hour to your district from the garage / bus stop when you go out for entertainment.

Another travel is with taxi. Stopping a taxis in Bodrum, is like other parts of the world. The tariffs of the travel are calculated by distance. At midnight, the tariffs are doubled. Bodrum Airport has started In the year 2000 and It is about 40 km far to Bodrum town center. When you arrive to Bodrum airport you need to catch a taxi or private transportation to go to your hotel etc. There is no bus or minibus from airport to the property. You should ask price as a first before you catch a taxi. The best way is making reservation with travel agencies for private transfer before your arrival.

What's On In Bodrum

You will find a number of culturally driven events; particularly in the summer months.

April Traditional Mesir Festival. This is an annual celebration promoting the use of natural sources like herbs and spices to cure ailments. It is referred to locally as the Power Gum and is held in nearby Manisa.

May Bodrum Bicycle Festival Bodrum Despite its name it isn't a festival where people gather to show off their bikes. Instead it has more of an environment friendly focus. The idea is to encourage people to leave their cars and cycle instead, supported by live music, acrobats and all sorts of flamboyant additions. Diving Festival Bodrum Bodrum has a thriving diving community and this is celebrated in mid-May with this event. It is run by the Bodrum Underwater Society and features live demonstrations.

June International Bodrum Film Festival Bodrum The event is held at the start of June in the castle with an awards ceremony, concerts and film screenings.

July/August Bodrum Festival Bodrum This annual event runs from the end of July and into August. It is held at the castle and boasts a number of musical highlights. August Aegean Festival Bodrum Food, folklore, music and local customs, you'll find it all in Bodrum during the middle of August. The Aegean Festival is a celebration of great fun and colour and is held at the Yalikavak Marina.

October Bodrum Cup Wooden Yacht Festival Bodrum This international event sees people bring their boats from all over the world to compete in the race.

Haggle!! and Enjoy

The art of shopping in Turkey involves haggling. If you find something you want try not to be too enthusiastic about it - it will be harder to get the deal if they know you really want it. Offer half the asking price and never go higher than you are willing to pay (the shopkeeper will never sell at a loss so you will both win and have great fun doing it). Turkish shop keepers are charming and will try anything to convince you to buy. Don't be offended by their forward attitude - they do this to be friendly more than intimidating. If you say no thankyou there will be no offense taken and you will have had a nice chat. Remember that a deal is sealed when you shake on it - it would be very rude to retract the offer once you have agreed the deal.

Tip Please

Many turkish bar staff earn minimal wage which can be very low indeed - for this they are expected to work punishing hours and still be nice to us the tourist. The tips we give them are so important in adding money to their small pay packets. Unfortunately the English have a reputation for being a bit stingy with the money! Round up the drinks order and let them keep what is actually a really smal sum to us but they are so grateful for these kindnesses.
