Praia da Areia Branca benefits from beautiful clean sandy beaches manned in the summer months by life guards. For a small fee beach tents are available making it totally family friendly for a wide range of visitors of different nationalities. In August when Portuguese families arrive there is a lively cosmopolitan feel on the beach, local bars, cafes and restaurants. A wide range of restaurants are available in the area to fit every budget. Holiday accommodation in the area is mostly self catering apartments and villas with just a few large hotels along the coast so that local family atmosphere is retained. Overlooking and only a short walk from the beautiful beach is a promenade with plenty of small cafés and good restaurants. If you prefer to eat ‘at home’ there is a daily market where you can buy fresh fish and other produce for barbecuing. There is a small supermarket just 200 mtrs from the apartments but larger supermarkets are located just 3 kms away in Lourinha.
