The Penthouse is a spectacular suite, a spectacular place to stay in our spectacular city! The north balcony is covered & has excellent views of the mountains - Cypress Bowl & Grouse Mountain and & Mt. Seymour; the sunny south-facing balcony is partially covered & has a Mexican hammock & and other outdoor furniture. This suite has a King size bed (or twin beds on request). The entrance is private via a stairwell from the south deck off the main level at the rear of the house, affording easy access to the hot tub & garden for Penthouse guests. Both balconies open off the main inside living area which has an adobe gas fireplace and is furnished with cane chairs, a Mongolian tree of life carpet in raw wools & a leather loveseat. The cozy window seat with fouton mattress and handpainted silk cushions is a great place to curl up and read a book. The Penthouse has a television with cable including CNN & movie channels. In addition, there is a radio & a DVD. DVD rentals are available on 10th Avenue. High speed internet access is available in all rooms. The Magnolia room is a classic Bed and Breakfast style room with a queen size bed that is extremely comfortable. The linens & curtains in this room are imported from Australia and are that country's best 100% cotton damask in whites and off-whites. The Magnolia Room furnishings include bedside tables, a CD/clock radio, leather sofa, Persian carpet, phone for free local calls, or long distance calls with a calling card . The floor is finished with large Italian tiles and the walls are a fine, textured adobe. The Magnolia Room's ensuite bathroom is spacious and beautiful - the floor is finished with emerald green Brazilian tiles. This is a very comfortable room. The Garden Suite is a bright, colorful and comfortable one bedroom self-catering suite. There are windows on 3 sides of this suite. The floors throughout are a beautiful deep green slate and the walls are a hand textured plaster. A Persian carpet adds warmth and color. The Garden Suite has a kitchenette with a small fridge, a sink with a very high quality built-in water filtration system, a microwave/convection oven and a two-burner electric cooktop. The kitchenette is well equipped with dishes & cooking utensils so it is entirely possible to cook meals and eat at home. A gas barbecue is available in the main garden. Otherwise, enjoy one of the many fine dining restaurants on West 10th Avenue, two blocks away. The kitchen/living room are one space and this area also has a small table and chairs, a loveseat with a pull out single bed and a TV/VCR with multi-channel cablevision including CNN. The garden suite has a phone with voicemail and free local calling, and a radio/CD player. To the south the garden suite looks onto a brick patio and the Plum Tree in the main garden. This patio is a great spot to sit and take in a little sun, or watch for the many birds that visit our main garden: Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Stellars Blue Jays and also many butterflies in the spring & summer, including the Swallowtail butterfly seen on the home page. The bedroom in this suite has a queen size, very comfortable bed, bedside tables, a closet, suitcase rack & built in drawers & shelves. The bedroom looks out onto the north garden, the rhododenron bushes & the Magnolia tree. The bathroom has a shower, toilet & pedestal sink.
