Judge Alexander was a contemporary and relation of the celebrated hymn writer Cecil Frances Alexander who was married to his cousin the Bishop the Rt Rev William Alexander. Writer of many famous hymns including All things bright and beautiful and There is a Green Hill… Mrs Alexander lived with her husband and four children at the bishop’s palace near St Columb’s cathedral in Derry and often visited Enagh to enjoy the delightful house and grounds set between two ‘kettle-hole’ lakes and surrounded by beautiful beech and oak woods.
