The bustling market town of Bala lies within the boundaries of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, and is most famous for its lake, the largest natural body of water in Wales. Widely used by sailing and watersports enthusiasts, Bala is a must see destination for those seeking whitewater activities. For those with a more relaxing break in mind, the Lake provides a stunning backdrop for a trip on the Bala Lake Railway, the narrow-gauge steam railway which runs for several kilometres along its southern shore. The town itself is steeped in history, and has a range of interesting shops, inns, restaurants and a historical Town Walk. Fishing is plentiful, as are walking, cycling and other activities. Bala is in an ideal location for touring both North and Mid Wales, as well as being within an hours journey of the coastal regions and attractions.
