We sell our own home-made strawberry jam, marmalade, honey, free-range eggs and also home-grown strawberries.

You can enjoy exploring and observing farming life at close quarters. You can enjoy, too, all the facilities that help to give you the best possible experience during your Barncrosh Farm holiday. These facilities are free of charge to our visitors.

Exploring Galloway
Barncrosh is your gateway to Galloway, where the very best of Scotland's countryside is on your doorstep, from rolling hills and fine forests and lochs, to sandy beaches and a spectacular coastline. Gardens here are special, with gems like nearby Threave and the Logan Botanic Gardens near Stranraer. Palm trees and many other exotic plants thrive under the warming influence of the Gulf Stream.

Our roads are quiet and a pleasure to drive along. The nearby A712 Queens Way Tourist route takes you through the heart of the Galloway Forest Park, past a red deer range, wild goat park and red squirrel feeding stations. Buzzards are a common sight and you may be lucky enough to see golden eagles and red kites, too.

Shops, pubs and restaurants are within easy reach. Enjoy exploring our picturesque towns and villages, like Castle Douglas Food Town (only four miles away), Kirkcudbright Artists Town (five miles) and Wigtown Book Town (36 miles). People are friendly and welcoming, with plenty of time to speak to you.

Walking and cycling
From the serious challenge of the mighty Merrick (southern Scotland's highest hill) to the coastal paths and forest trails, this is excellent walking country. Forest Enterprise have waymarked a number of forest walks and cycle routes. Dumfries and Galloway is the home of the bicycle, and cycling along the quiet roads and paths is one of the best ways to see the countryside.

Water sports and fishing
From Portpatrick to Kirkcudbright and Kippford, the picturesque harbours along the Solway Coast provide excellent sailing. Inland, Loch Ken offers water-skiing, sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. Fishing is popular, with the choice of sea-angling or trying your luck on rivers, lochs and reservoirs.

Golf
Dumfries and Galloway has more than 30 golf courses to choose from, with great links and parkland courses. Visitors are welcome.

Heritage
Follow in the footsteps of Robert the Bruce, Lord of Galloway, in nearby Glen Trool - 'land of the mountain and the flood'. Visit the majestic castles of Drumlanrig (Thornhill), McLellan (Kirkcudbright) and Dunskey (Portpatrick) and the splendid ruined abbeys at Dundrennan and New Abbey (the romantic Sweetheart Abbey). Check out the museum at nearby Twynholm devoted to local hero and Formula One driver David Coulthard.
