Situated in a wine growing region, Château Lagorce is surrounded by woods and undulating countryside. It features classic French decor. Built in Roman style, with turrets dating back to the 15th century, the chateau has good access from the main road. The main fortified courtyard is entered though original wooden gates. There is a main terrace with balustrades, plus two further tiered terraces leading down to the lake, which offers excellent fishing facilities. The main steps are reputed to have been used by Napoleon Bonaparte when he visited nearby Haux. These lead down the side of the chateau to the swimming pool (30m x 8m) and sun terrace, both open year round. The estate’s small, private chapel is accessible to guests. The property is 20 minutes from the center of Bordeaux. The nearest shops and services are in Langaron (1 km), Haux (1.5 km), and Creon (5 km). The fashionable coastal resort of Arcachon (50 minutes) and the medieval village of St. Emilion (20 km) are also within easy reach. There is ample parking for up to 20 cars. The front door leads into the large hall with granite and provincial-style floor tiles. To the left is a kitchen with vaulted ceiling, original red floor tiles, and a large stone fireplace with bread oven. To the right is the salon, also with original floor tiles, high ceilings, a chandelier, and French windows overlooking the main terrace. Off the salon there is a dining room and lounge. The dining room features beautiful panels and a Louis XIV-style fireplace. The large, oak dining table seats up to 22 people. There is a guest WC off the dining room. The adjacent lounge also has high ceilings, a chandelier, an original mirrored fireplace, two antique settees, and several comfortable chairs. Here, too, French windows overlook the main terrace. The lounge leads into the library. Here there is an ornate ceiling, parquet floors, a bookcase, and a card table with chairs. A door leads to an original spiral staircase, which leads up to the bedrooms. Returning to the main hall, a central staircase leads to the first floor. First floor: There are eight double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms with tubs and showers. Bedroom 1 has a king-size four poster bed, walk-in closet, and marble fireplace. Bedroom 2 has a super king-size four poster bed, a ¾ sleigh bed, and marble fireplace. Bedroom 3 has a king-size bed and single sleigh bed. Bedroom 4 has a king-size four poster bed, while Bedroom 5 has a double bed with canopy, built-in closet, and marble fireplace. Returning to the first floor landing, there are four additional bedrooms on the left. Bedroom 6 has two exposed stone walls, a marble fireplace, and an ornate wooden double bed. Bedroom 7 has one exposed stone wall, marble fireplace, and ornate wooden double bed. Bedroom 8 has a king-size four poster bed. Turret: Bedroom 9 is located in the turret, which is accessible via a spiral staircase from the first floor landing. Here there is a king-size four poster bed and a large stone fireplace. There is an en suite bathroom with tub and shower. Turret: Ascending the spiral staircase, there is a breakfast room on the left with seating for 25 people. There are arched windows on either side of the room. There is a kitchen. Continuing to ascend, the staircase reaches the 10th and final bedroom. There is a king-size four poster bed and a marble fireplace. There is an extra adjacent bedroom, which shares Bedroom 10’s en suite bathroom with tub and shower.
