The unspoiled Tarn is a wonderful area for birds, butterflies and flora. 10 varieties of wild orchids grow on our own land. A group staying at La Bastide recorded 106 species of butterflies (half within walking distance of La Bastide, 43 moths, 47 types of birds and 334 species of plants!
You can walk in all directions straight from La Bastide.
Lautrec is an ignored gem of a fortified hilltop village with a pretty 15thC Place des Halles and a small amphitheatre where musical events take place throughout the summer.
There is a small water-park at Lautrec, an Adventure Parc at St Pierre de Trevisy and the new Cap de Decouvert at Carmeaux (dry ski-slopes, cable-cars, go-karts, mountain bikess. Kayaking at Castres and in the Gorge d'Aveyron. Horse-riding and tennis at Lautrec.
