Marina Da Gama self catering is part of the Marina Da Gama complex on the quiet lake of Zandvlei (Sandy Lake) in the suburb of Muizenberg, Cape Town.
It is a delightful, north facing holiday home with its lawn running down to the waters edge. It has all modern conveniences and offers an exclusive self catering environment which is unique.
It is a holiday home designed to cater for a relaxed, casual holiday.
There are two double bedrooms and a third bedroom with two single beds, two bathrooms, lounge, dining room and a kitchen.
It has a lock up garage and a secluded private swimming pool. There is a rowing boat at the jetty at the end of the garden in which you can explore the waterways of the Marina.
The tranquility of a holiday home on the waters edge surrounded by the lake and mountains is enhanced by the abundant bird life.
The climate is moderate with a marked lack of extremes. This self catering holiday home can be enjoyed at anytime of the year. There are an enormous number of things to do and see in the area, but if you just want to laze at the pool or recline at the waters edge, then Marina Self Catering is a delight.

Local Area Details

The Marina Da Gama complex on Zandvlei offers the visitor a miriad of things to do right on your doorstep / slipway. Apart from its own uniqueness of waterways, bird life, views etc. Marina Self catering is fortunate to be able to boast its close proximity to every major (and minor) attraction available from "Surfer's Corner at Muizenberg in False Bay and Ou Kaapse Weg mountain pass with unsurpassed views to a hop, skip and a jump which will take you to Cape Town, the Mother City and the V&A Waterfront. Here are a few attractions that are popular with our guests.
The Winelands
We have two major areas of production. The Cape Wine lands with Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachten and Steenberg no more than 10 -15 minutes away. If you would like to visit the Stellenbosch, Franschoek or Paarl Wine lands, they are between 20-40 minutes away. All situated in the most breathe taking settings with ancient oak trees, Cape Dutch architecture, spectacular mountains and of course some of the worlds finest wines at real value for money.
Restaurants
Any and every culinary delight is available in our area, and with the Capes reputation for fresh seafood, there is a never ending selection of places to eat. Every taste is catered for in the Cape Town area from the most sophisticated palette to the person who wants a really huge steak, or fresh fish and chips. Peter your host is always available to direct you to exactly what you are looking for.
Golf clubs
Golf is extremely popular in the Cape and with our mild climate can be enjoyed all year round. There at least ten courses in our vicinity. The closest are Westlake, Clovelly and Steenberg, 5-10 minutes from Marina Self catering. Some of our guests come here specifically for golf and come back year after year. There?s no need to bring anything with you if you are coming from outside South Africa, as clubs and carts can be rented at the courses. Caddies are also always available at very low rates.
The V and A Waterfront
Twenty five minutes from Marina selfcatering is the renowned Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.This a must for any one visiting Cape Town as it is a shopping paradise! It also has has restaurants to cater for every taste from pizza to paella.All within a genuine working harbour complex.The fishing boats, pleasure craft and commercial ships continuously come and go, creating an ambiance that is vibrant and dynamic. The sights smells and sounds all combine to provide a wonderful experience. Parking is plentiful and secure with every V&A amenity wthin walking distance of your car.
Table Mountain
Towering over the Mother City and the V&A Waterfront is one of the most distinctive landmarks in the world; Table Mountain. Sometimes the cloud comes over the top of the plateaux when the south east wind blows.It creates what looks a like gigantic white table cloth, rolling and tumbling downthe slopes.
Take the Cable car to the top for the most spectacular view of Cape Town imaginable. Gaze out into Table Bay to the infamous Robben Island,home to Nelson Mandela during his incarceration. Every thing surrounded by the mighty Atlantic Ocean rolling away to the horizon.Before you go down again send a postcard from the mountain top or have a meal in the restaurant in the clouds.
Robben Island
Every day the Robben Island Ferry makes its way across to the island from the V&A Waterfront. Visit the cells that housed Nelson Mandela and his fellow prisoners and experience the ambience of this daunting place.You can even stay over for the night if you like! There also bus tours of the Island, which take in the various historic buildings and the islands museum.A truly memorable experience.
The Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach
This world renowned conservation site is the 5th most visited attraction in South Africa. It is Boulders Beach home to a huge Penguin Colony.You can walk amongst them as they go about their daily business, swaggering up and down the beach,to and from the water.There is never ending activity on and around the giant granite boulders that give the beach it`s name.These fascinating creatures are the source of endless interest and amusement as they completely ignore their human observers.
The Wild Flowers(fynbos)
The Cape Peninsula is the home of the most prolific and abundant Floral Kingdom in the world. The Cape Peninsula National Park stretches from Table Mountain to Cape Point and there are may walks, hikes and tours that take in the beauty and splendour of the Capes magnificent wild flower heritage.The world renowned Kirtsenbosch Botanical Gardens are also only 15 minutes from Marina selfcatering,well worth visiting if you have any interest in flora. They have awesome examples of almost any indigenous plant you could wish to see. There is also a restaurant and in summer there are early evening concerts of various types of music.These are held on the lawns of the Gardens and people are invited to bring picnic baskets and to enjoy their dinners as they listen to the music.

Go to Seal Island
