Comfortably furnished with a large sofa, 2 armchairs, coffee tables, rug and TV, DVD, CD player, dining table and chairs to seat 6. The kitchen corner contains an electric cooker, toaster, microwave, electric kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine and all necessary pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils. The airy and romantic master bedroom is on a mezzanine floor in the converted loft (grenier) and has a vaulted ceiling with exposed ancient oak beams, bedside tables with lamps, a set of drawers, clothes hanging area and, an ensuite shower room with wc and basin. The twin bedded room is downstairs, accessed by a couple of steps down from the living room. It has a set of drawers with bedside lamps, a wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with shower, wc, basin and bidet.

We have a large collection of DVDs, books and indoor games for less clement weather as well as outdoor games including table tennis, a boules pitch, swing-ball and badminton which can be played on a large grassed area, perfect for children to let off steam on. These are all available for guests free of charge

The gites are set in a large garden with plenty of grassed area for sunbathing. Outside each gite there is a paved patio area separated by trellis fencing for privacy with a BBQ and a wooden picnic table with parasol. The property is not totally enclosed, therefore young children would need to be supervised

Local Area Details

Guemene Penfao lies almost in the centre of the Pays de 3 Rivieres. The town is on the river Don but the Isac and Brivet rivers are not far away. It is a magical area with beautiful scenery and so much to do, it’s difficult to know where to begin. There is something for everyone; wonderful walks through forests, ancient chateaux, chapels and churches to visit, a local pottery, water sports of every kind including the town’s indoor pool with spa and Jacuzzi and a lake with a safe beach area in nearby Plesse, 4 riding stables to suit all abilities, and then of course there’s food. There are many restaurants listed in the local area guide book and plenty more besides. Les quatre cles is about a 3 minute drive from the town centre or easily reached on foot in about 15 minutes. The swimming pool can also be reached by a footpath across a field, the river Don, with a very stimulating climb up steps on the other side.

For those with golfing instincts, there are 4 wonderful 18 hole championship courses at Nantes, Rennes, Savenay and Missillac (Golf de la Bretche – breathtaking scenery with a chateau to die for) both 20 miles away and 9 hole courses at Caden – 24 miles and Treffiex – 15 miles.

Even though the area itself has so much to offer, there are many other places worth visiting within easy reach, such as Josselin with its magnificent chateau or for car enthusiasts there’s Loheac which is home to the largest motor museum in France. The French national rallycross championships are held there with opportunities to have lessons in saloon car and go-cart racing. Or how about spending a day in Paris, under 3 hours away direct from Redon Station which is only a 15 minute drive away.

The historic cities of Rennes, Nantes ( visit the wonderful newly restored castle and take a ride on the magical mechanical giant elephant), the wild atlantic cote sauvage, the magnificent golden beaches of Pornichet & La Baule and the vineyards of the Loire are all within easy driving distance for a wonderful day out.
